Hallmark Movies and Mysteries: Gourmet Detective (2015) PILOT Episode
Initial release: 16 May 2015 (USA)
Based on
Peter King's "The Gourmet Detective"
The Perry Mason series based on Erle Stanley Gardner's books was about a lawyer/judge, a confidential secretary and a private investigator, almost on equal footing.
Here a culinary consultant who is called The Gourmet Detective, and a Police Detective, team up begrudgingly, well, at least on the Police Detective's side.
The series looks promising, with some comedy on the side, perhaps to lighten the mood.
There is some attraction between the two, but the focus of this episode is to find the saboteur/murderer or in plural form. Besides, since this is the pilot episode, they are still in denial, but it doesn't affect the thrill the two characters bring to the viewers.
This movie could stand alone, but the ending...the cliff hanger, I mean, makes you want to know if their story would progress and what other cases they would be collaborating in.
I still prefer The Perry Mason series and some others, but this is not bad. Not bad at all.
CASTFROM WIKIPEDIA:
Dylan Neal as Henry Ross, a charming, single chef and gourmet consultant who is also famous as a blogger
Brooke Burns as Detective Maggie Price, a leading detective with the Homicide Division in the San Francisco Police Division
Matthew Kevin Anderson as Munro, part of Detective Price's team

Samantha Ferris as Captain Forsyth, Captain of the Homicide Division and Maggie's boss who first hires Henry as a consultant on one of the cases
Ali Skovbye as Abigail, Maggie's teenage daughter who lives with her mother
Christine Willes as Doris, Maggie's mother who lives with her
Shannon Chan-Kent as Lucy, Henry's devoted assistant who helps him maintaining his blog and with research on his cases

I'm so excited to watch the other three episodes. I think they would show one episode per year, except in 2015 they showed two.
