The Hows of Us(2018)

Image
Source Written(Original Story by Carmi Raymundo.  She also wrote the screenplay with the great director and Gillian Ebreo) and Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina Greenbelt 1 After watching this beautiful movie dad, who was the one who invited us to watch this, FYI, said, "It's a beautiful movie.  There were dragging parts and it's too long, but all in all it's a very beautiful movie." I can't say I disagree with him.  True, there were parts where I dozed off, but I believe that this is one of the best movies KATHRYN BERNARDO and DANIEL PADILLA ever starred in.  There are still glimpses of their young selves, because they are indeed still very young, but it is quite obvious that they have honed their craft.  They play a couple, George and Primo, who fall in love in college, but on their fifth year of being together, they fall apart, literally and figuratively.  Primo flies to Italy to be with his family, but after being silent for two who...

My Perfect You (2018) PG

( source ) #Abilieve (I believe) #AbieautifulBridge (A beautiful bridge) ( source ) Synopsis from Star Cinema: “My Perfect You” is the story of Burn (Gerald Anderson), a man who’s down in the dumps, and Abi (Pia Wurtzbach), the girl who helps him see the light again. Will they find the perfect love for them or will they have to face heartbreak again? My Perfect You may have been marketed as a rom-com, but there's more to it than meets the eye.  It tackles heavy subject matters including genetics,  psychology and other things related to them. The movie's central characters, Abi and Burn, played by PIA WURTZBACH and GERALD ANDERSON, are so perfect for each other that you would ask yourself, "What's the catch?" "Is there a punchline somewhere?" The actors have great onscreen chemistry and I wouldn't be surprised if they would have other projects together.  Both of them could really act and both of them praise their director, MS. CA...

Seven Sundays(2017) PG

Image
We were going to hit several birds with one stone(I hate the saying hitting two birds with one stone and now I say several) and one of those birds was watching this movie: SEVEN SUNDAYS. The stars were well chosen and the director, Ms. Cathy Garcia-Molina, never fails to deliver. It had old and new elements, but the story was well told and greatly acted.   OK, I didn't like the racist remarks towards the end of the film, but we have to be open minded about this.  This was a very arrogant person trying to diss their family and they were just united as a family. I think the message of the movie is that no matter what differences we all have as a family, at the end of the day, " Damay na! " My folks loved it.  They did not expect to like it and they said it even exceeded their expectations. Many heartstrings were pulled, but spirits were lifted too.   I won't make this long anymore.  Congratulations to the cast and crew! ...

My Ex and Whys (2017) PG (on its third week and still making money)

What is it with me and South Korea?  I was just simply fascinated with "her" since my first transit there ages ago.  The first Korean thing I learned to cook was their barbecue then I learned to cook their pancakes and their Korean Beef plus so much more. I have been studying the language on and off(most especially when my almost deaf eomma/mommy/mater started to mostly depend on subtitles, she got hooked with Koreanovelas), but unlike those I have been using since I was a little girl(English, Filipino(Tagalog, Cebuano, Hiligaynon), German and Spanish), it takes long for me to study any language(I know bits and pieces of Pangasinense, Ilocano, Kapampangan, Bahasa(both Indonesian and Malaysian), Hindi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Nihonggo, Portuguese, Dutch/Flemish etc.), but right now, I am trying to get serious with it. Hangugeo jogeum halsu isseoyo (I can speak a little Korean)but hopefully I would get better in time.  ;-) South Korea is a big part of the story. ...

Just the 3 of Us (R-13) 2016

Image
note: I was able to watch great movies before this one, but for one reason or another I wasn't able to blog about them. Director: Cathy Garcia-Molina An unlikely love story between polar opposites Uno(JOHN LLOYD CRUZ) and CJ(JENNYLYN MERCADO), two strangers, and how one night changes their lives forever. Unforeseen circumstances collide and force Uno and CJ to live under the same roof as they both deal with their sense of responsibility and their yearning for security. Uno is motivated by his sense of family while CJ is governed by an unconditional love that should put her first above everything else. The unlikely thing that binds Uno and CJ together paves the way for them to find in each other the kind of love they never thought they needed. ( source ) Just the 3 of Us is a feel good romantic comedy.  Heartstrings were pulled towards the middle of the film, but it was balanced with lots of laughs, love of family, great friends, etc. The very cute neighbour, H...

She's Dating the Gangster (2014)

Source From ABS-CBN Just when we thought that the "KathNiel" love team was overrated, we were proven wrong.  Even if we  religiously  watched Got2Believe (plus Princess and I before that), we thought that everything was just hyped up that we did not have plans of watching this teen flick. "Thanks" to #glendaph(You rotten lady, why did you destroy the Bondoc Peninsula and other places!) and those power outages, we had no choice , but to watch this because we've already seen the other movies, and the other one  we haven't seen was going to be shown at a much later time. When we entered the cinema everyone was excited. Finally, when the movie started, everyone was focused, with occasional giggles that turned into laughter. Kathryn, Daniel and ALL their co-stars were very effective.  True, I couldn't imagine Kathryn morphing into Dawn Z when she gets older, but somehow it didn't matter.   I have seen Daniel Padilla in person, and he i...
