Image
A rich guy hires an orphaned poor girl to be his pretend girlfriend in order to escape his grandfather’s plan of marrying him off to another woman. In exchange of her service, he gives her a posh condo unit and a big weekly salary but there’s a catch: she’s not allowed to fall in love with him. Eventually, they start falling for each other and just when everything is going fine, his ex-girlfriend (and first love) resurfaces. Will he give their old love a second chance or will he choose to be with his hired girlfriend? - Viva Entertainment Viva Films is a very adventurous movie company.  They are not greedy for money, but instead, they take the risk by producing films that are beautiful, but would probably flop.  I have seen these flicks they produced of late and I must say they are all mostly beautiful.  Sad to say, not every movie has at least have broken even, but there are those blockbuster hits like the JaDine pictures. Girlfriend for Hire 's story is nothing new,

JOY (2015)

Image
If I couldn't figure out why Jennifer Lawrence is the highest paid actor before, now I know why.  Just watch JOY and you would probably agree with me.  Her acting's really seamless and she's very versatile.  There are moments where I am reminded of Renée Zellweger because to me, they look similar, but of course, they are also different as different could be. A story of a family across four generations, centered on the girl who becomes the woman (Jennifer Lawrence) who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Facing betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, Joy becomes a true boss of family and enterprise. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy's inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces-WWW Directed by David O.  Russell Screenplay by David O. How to be Single (2016) R-16

Alison Brie, Rebel Wilson, Dakota Johnson and Leslie Mann In a nutshell: After watching that unedifying movie the night before, even if this is also wild, I must say I like this better.  True friendships, baby steps, relationship goals, finding oneself and true love are tackled here, so I think I could overlook the tons of unnecessary parts.  I also like the fact that Meg and Alice are great siblings.  That's all folks.  I'm not so comfortable to write about the rest.  Just check out the links of the reviews below.  After four years of college, young Alice (Dakota Johnson) decides she needs a break from her long-term boyfriend Josh. Excited and ready for new challenges, the eager grad moves to New York to take a job as a paralegal. Helping her navigate her way through an unfamiliar city is Robin (Rebel Wilson), a fun-loving, wild co-worker who enjoys partying and one-night stands. With Robin as her freewheeling guide, Alice can now learn how to get free drinks, mee

The Best of Me(2014)/Accidental Love(2015)

2 James Marden flicks I've seen the same day(8 February 2016) It's the Lunar New Year and you would think I would watch something Asian, but no.  I watched two James Marden movies and I must say that I am convinced that the guy is a chameleon. I've seen the first one by "accident".  I was channel surfing because I was stumped then I saw that THE BEST OF ME(2014) was playing on Star Movies.  I wanted to watch this the year it was released, but I was too busy.  When I was freer, it was not playing anymore. :-(  I was not fortunate to read the novel by Nicholas Sparks, but since I knew it was something from him, I tried to guess who was going to die.  Later I learned through Wikipedia that there's an alternate ending for those people who hate tragedies. It's an "ideal" ending, but even if it's sad, I think the original ending is still better.   The story is very moving and worth every minute(probably every second) of my time. A

The REVENANT (2015)

Image
rev·e·nant ˈrevəˌnäN,-nənt/ noun a person who has returned, especially supposedly from the dead. The Revenant 2015 is a story based on true events and in part from the book written by Michael Punke .  Most of the story was conjured by  by Iñárritu and Mark L. Smith .  It's called a semi-biographical film because some of the characters and events were just figments of imagination of Iñárritu and Smith. The story is very heavy and I couldn't help it...I cried during a lot of parts.  I also got very, very angry at some of the conquerors.  I was able to empathize and sympathize with a lot of characters, real or reel.  I honestly don't know the difference, because every scene and every character is very real to me. Tom Hardy is really quite versatile(he made me hate Fitzgerald) and Will Poulter, who used to play roles of children when he was already a teenager(just like Leonardo DiCaprio in Lassie etc.) is really good as Bridger. Everything about her(2016)

sha This is NOT The Devil Wears Prada's franchise.  I do not even think this is loosely based on it, but because of the request of the Star for All Seasons to have something similar to the premise of the best seller turned blockbuster hit, STAR CINEMA was able to produce a wonderful story that has all the elements of a romantic-comedy and a heart-wrenching drama filled with lessons, morals, love, humanity and so much more.  Vilma Santos, Angel Locsin and Xian Lim are three of my favorite actors. Add to that Bb. Joyce Bernal directing the film, I told myself, I have to watch this! So I did.  I wanted to watch this on day one, but I had to wait a while because we were all very busy.  Finally, the day came and I must say that every second counted.  The truth is, there were scenes that reminded me more of   BEAUTY AND THE BEAST , except that this was not about a romantic love story between the Vivian and Jaica, but it was and still is a love story of a very special
