Image
Category: Movies Genre: Action & Adventure (Dramedy=Dramatic Comedy/Adventure) directed by Rob Reiner and written by Justin Zackham A relatively poor mechanic (lower middle class) and trivia buff (wanted to be a history professor, but while in college, he got his girl pregnant...at least, all his kids are doing well because of his hard work) Carter Chambers ( MORGAN FREEMAN ) and Corporate billionaire (started working at 16, married four times, likes to be married, but the problem is, he wants to be single too) Edward Cole ( JACK NICHOLSON ) find themselves as roommates in a hospital owned by Cole.  Never make a policy you can't abide by. Both of them are terminally ill, but obviously, are very different in many ways. While inside their room they both find out that they do have some things in common. They didn't want to be wasted inside the hospital room. They want to spend every single second of their time left doing everything they ever dre

Juno (2007)

Category: Movies Genre: Romantic Comedy Rated PG-13 ************************************************* Juno is an unconventional 16 year old girl. She has her own way and she speaks her mind. She's daring and not necessarily the teenage role model. Maybe, she's even the type your parents don't want you to hang out with during your teenage years, yet there's something about her that made me stay and watch the movie. From a one time intimate encounter with her best friend Paulie, Juno couldn't believe that she could be pregnant that she took the test three times. When she was finally sure she told her female best friend, Leah, about it. Originally she planned on aborting the baby, but when she went to the place, an Asian girl, I guess Su-chin was her name, was "picketing" in front of Women Now and told her that the baby had finger nails. No baby deserved to be murdered. Every baby has the right to live. Still, she went inside. When sh

Atonement (2008)

source Atonement  is about Briony Tallis, a young aspiring writer of thirteen who witnessed or thought she had witnessed something atrocious between her older sister, Cecilia, and her long time crush who rejected her when she was about ten or eleven. A series of events that have gone wrong made her demons play inside her head that she saw only what she wanted to see. This in turn ruins the life of Robbie, the young man she adored, but loved her sister dearly. *Young Saoirse(Sear-sha) was very, very effective in her role of Briony  that earned her several nominations and awards. *James McAvoy was a very intriguing Robbie * I don't like the 17-18 year old Briony much. They could've gotten a better actress, but she was good enough. * Vanessa Redgrave's cameo was fantastic! * I like Christopher Hampton's adaptation of Ian McEwan's novel * The music was haunting * Keira's eyes and body language were great...she's really a "classic"

The Golden Compass a.k.a. Northern Lights (2007)

Received from my email: "Please don't let your children watch THE GOLDEN COMPASS. It will make them think like atheists." From another sender: "THE GOLDEN COMPASS, an atheistic book, is now a movie. Please Boycott it!" Those above are the milder ones .  When I asked them if they have read the books before, they said they wouldn't dare.  One thing's for sure, this is not a children's movie, but as I've mentioned to one of the people who reviewed it recently, the commotion is just much ado about nothing ...well, maybe not nothing, but... Looking beyond that , I must say that it is a very enjoyable film. I think I like Dakota Blue Richards...she's going to be a big star one day. I also like the computer animation and stuff...the content is another story.  This movie is the 1st of the series of Pullman's His Dark Materials:  The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.  I wouldn't recommend it to child
