Ruel S. Bayani's KASAL (2018)

Image
Source #Cebu #PauloAvelino #DerekRamsay #BeaAlonzo #RuelSBayani My mouth is agape. What a great story! The actors were carefully chosen! Wow! Great twist and ending! Great direction! 😊 (Please pardon the exclamation points.)   Basing on the trailer I already guessed what the "truth" is, but I wasn't able to guess certain scenes, plus I love the ending. I loved how the actors were all immersed into their roles.  Everyone's role, whether big or small is important. Source I also loved that they showcased how beautiful Cebu is.  The LED flowers in Day-as, Cordova ( 10,000 Roses Cafe & More ), the Adarna's  Temple of Leah , Source among other picturesque places and modern infrastructure. THE ACTING: We love Ms. Celeste Legaspi , but we loved her more because she took advantage of her beautiful platinum hair and allowed herself to look older(she looks so young in person) to be Lia's grandma.  She also acted...

All You Need is PAG-IBIG (2015)

Image
Cinema 9, Festival Supermall This MMFF 2015 is filled with controversies so I wasn't really so keen on seeing the entries much, except for HONOR THY FATHER , #WALANGFOREVER and My BEBE Love #KiligPaMore .  Because of the (seemingly) unfair treatment of the MMFF peeps to #HonorThyFatherakaConMan, I opted to watch this first, unfortunately it wasn't available immediately in cinemas nearby... anyways, let's focus on #AllYouNeedIsPAGIBIG. We never expected to like this film.  For us, it was just a smorgasbord type of movie with too many people in it.  From start to finish we were able to enjoy it.  It's a good thing(sorry Bistek)that Derek Ramsay took over Herbert Bautista's role because I couldn't imagine it otherwise. Kris and Derek really have good rapport.  Kris' son, Bimby acted well. Despite and in spite of Kris' reputation, I think she brought him up well. KimXi fans would not be disappointed, most especially with the scenes shot in the maj...

EX with BENEFITS (2015) R-13

Image
How do I describe this movie without giving spoilers?  Hmm.  Let me think.  Ah, I think I know how.  Directed by Gino M. Santos Written by Jeff Stelton and Keiko Aquino Loosely based on or inspired by the  Wattpad   sensation by  youramnesiagirl  of the same title, is a story of finding your self worth and about living.  It's also about relationships not of the romantic kind and about responsibility.  This movie is NOT all about sex.  There's more to it than that .  It also doesn't stereotype med reps and doctors. Things like these  happen whatever profession or non-profession you are in, and even if there are people like that  in real life, we must believe that there are more people who live life with integrity(listen to Carmi Martin's lines somewhere in the movie), so please don't be scared to watch this. This movie is about loving, losing, sacrificing, being selfless et cetera, et ce...

English Only, Please (2014) Jennylyn Mercado and Derek Ramsay #MMFF2014

Facebook Rappler Review by Zig Marasigan The trailer above made me joyfully wait for this movie to be shown in the cinemas.  Yes, yes, there was a more important event coming and I haven't forgotten who the real reason for the season is, but it made me list this as the first movie to watch on Christmas Day. Let me tell you a secret .  I was only intending to watch four movies anyway and the other three are:  BONIFACIO, KUBOT and MY BIG BOSSING. This morning we were pretty excited to go to Alabang Town Center.  We were given movies passes yesterday and even if we knew that we weren't going to be able to use them(the expiration date was on the 31st and it was the #MMFF2014, so the odds were obviously against us), we were still psyched to see this film. After watching the movie I was able to read the wonderful review of Zig Marasigan .  Even if I don't entirely agree with what he has written, I agree with almost everything he ...

Trophy Wife (2014) R-13 Movie(NOT the TV series)

Image
For the TV series, click " this "  DIRECTED BY Andoy Ranay WRITTEN BY Keiko Aquino PRODUCED BY  Viva Films STARRING: DEREK RAMSAY , HEART EVANGELISTA , CRISTINE REYES , JAIME FABREGAS , DOLLY DE LEON , LUZ VALDEZ ,  JACKIE LOU BLANCO,   JOHN ESTRADA , G TOENGI and others The story, according to my mom, is nothing new, but the twists and turns were beautifully planned and crafted by the master storyteller, KEIKO AQUINO .   ANDOY RANAY , as always, did not disappoint.  Even if this project was not originally his, he did his best to try  and make this film as perfect as possible. There were a few goofs, but I don't think a lot of people noticed it.  I won't mention them, but see if you would notice them yourselves. If I were you, I would just relax and enjoy the movie.   This is, according to her, Cristine Reyes ' last sexy  film and I know that a lot of guys would be disappointed, but we're praising God for it. ...

Avatar, the MMFF 2009 movies I watched, and other stuff

Source   Before I start I just wanna say I had fun having brunch with one of my good friends, Marga K.Manlapig. I met Marga aka Midge through Father Didoy last 2006 when thinkdiocese.org was still existing.  Now, the official website of the Diocese of Paranaque is  http://dop.ph .  We're not "webmasters"/administrators or contributors there anymore (I'm more active here in the Vicariate), but our friendship has grown stronger.  Marga aka Midge, is Father Jeff's older sister.   He was supposed to come, but he was too sleepy.   =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= I'm also blessed to have seen AVATAR twice (once with my bro and the other time with my childhood BFF, Annette) .    Even if it is not really a Christian movie (it's something Christianity abhors called  PANTHEISM ), the power of the Na'vi's united prayer is really admirable.  They are also ...

And I love you so (2009)

Image
And I Love You So is a 2009 Philippine romantic fantasy drama film produced by Star Cinema, starring Bea Alonzo, Sam Milby and Derek Ramsay. This film reunites Alonzo and Milby; the previous being Close to You (2006). The film is directed by Laurenti Dyogi, and celebrates the 16th year of Star Cinema films. The film describes the feeling of forbidden love for another person when that love may not be forbidden at all.- Wikipedia   A Story about LOVE, LOSS, and LETTING GO.   I recommend this movie to people who could not accept the loss of their loved ones; to persons who cannot let go of the ones they love; to people who are unhealthily attached to people and things that remind them of those people; to people who need to move on, but can't; to EVERYONE. (source) It was a dream come true. LOL  Sam Milby was calling MY name.  He was shouting it while chasing...well, not me, but Bea Alonzo's character, Lara Cruz.  It was music to my ...
