Mary Magdalene (2018)

Image
From the Worldwide Web: MARY MAGDALENE is an authentic and humanistic portrait of one of the most enigmatic and misunderstood spiritual figures in history. The biblical biopic tells the story of Mary (Rooney Mara), a young woman in search of a new way of living. Constricted by the hierarchies of the day, Mary defies her tr aditional family to join a new social movement led by the charismatic Jesus of Nazareth (Joaquin Phoenix). She soon finds a place for herself within the movement and at the heart of a journey that will lead to Jerusalem. Initial release :  15 March 2018 ( Germany ) Director :  Garth Davis Screenplay :  Philippa Goslett ,  Helen Edmundson Producers :  Iain Canning ,  Liz Watts ,  Emile Sherman Music composed by :  Jóhann Jóhannsson ,  Hildur Guðnadóttir If a movie I've watched earlier in life is not here, it's probably lost in cyberspace or I was too overwhelmed to write about it or the magic went pfft or I simply

My Perfect You (2018) PG

( source ) #Abilieve (I believe) #AbieautifulBridge (A beautiful bridge) ( source ) Synopsis from Star Cinema: “My Perfect You” is the story of Burn (Gerald Anderson), a man who’s down in the dumps, and Abi (Pia Wurtzbach), the girl who helps him see the light again. Will they find the perfect love for them or will they have to face heartbreak again? My Perfect You may have been marketed as a rom-com, but there's more to it than meets the eye.  It tackles heavy subject matters including genetics,  psychology and other things related to them. The movie's central characters, Abi and Burn, played by PIA WURTZBACH and GERALD ANDERSON, are so perfect for each other that you would ask yourself, "What's the catch?" "Is there a punchline somewhere?" The actors have great onscreen chemistry and I wouldn't be surprised if they would have other projects together.  Both of them could really act and both of them praise their director, MS. CA

RED SPARROW (2018) R-16 ---First of a trilogy

Image
#Commercenter Red Sparrow is written by retired CIA officer, Jason Matthews.  I haven't read the book, so there's no comparison.  I wasn't intending to blog about this because in my mind I've seen better with the same theme and premise, but here I am.  This is my two cents worth: It has a good story and the acting is impressive, especially Jennifer Lawrence's and Jeremy Irons' performances, but I just couldn't take the part where they kept on repeating, "You've fallen for the HANDSOME American."  My gees.  Joel Edgerton is not ugly, but he's NOT in the category of handsome.  It's in the eye of the beholder anyway and I don't mind the attraction. He does have a certain charm and there's more to him than his looks...His character Nate's  abilities and traits could make him alluring to Dominika's eyes and her heart, but for the torturer to keep on repeating it beats me.  Like what I said, I've seen bett
