A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE (1985) Honestly, since I remembered the many hours I watched this mini series as a teenager, I just opted to read some cliff notes of the book and the mini series to remind me of it...of them.  I remember the other parts so well, but the other parts are so vague.  Since I just recently watched HOLD THE DREAM and TO BE THE BEST , my conclusion is that if you love someone, don't let decades pass and wait for your sunset years to let them know how much you love them.  A lot of people are not as fortunate to reach their sunset years, and if you die before that, that means you would have had forever held your peace. That's the case of Blackie O'Neill played in this mini series by LIAM NEESON, who also plays the older Blackie opposite Deborah Kerr. Gerald Ford was the President when I first memorized, The Pledge of Allegiance (the 1954 version).  These were events when I was already alive, but knew nothing of.  Events before Mr. Ford became President, thanks to Washington Post's DEEP THROAT(Mark Felt). Dad was feeling bad because of one of the companies where we could not talk to the people involved face to face, so he said, "Let's watch a movie."  We looked for a movie that was not going to make me late for a commitment and something that could make us relax.  The only one that fitted our schedule was MARK FELT and of course, I think most of us know by now that MARK FELT is Deep Throat or should I say "was"? Well, it may be in the past, but he is indeed Deep Throat.  May he and his wife Audrey rest in peace. I never expected to like this film.  We were there in SM Aura for several reasons and it just so happened that they showed this film a couple of days before its US screening. The best chapter was the 2nd one, but this one was pretty exciting too The final chapter of TAKEN has put me at the edge of my seat from start to finish, even if I liked the second installment best. Father-daughter movies really pulls some heartstrings even if it's an action flick, so the trilogy really wrenched my heart. There were scenes that would make you wonder why Bryan Mills decided to do this and that, but you would realize that it's what made him human.  He is not perfect. He is not God.  Even it the script was not flawless, the story-weaving was still well thought of...well-researched. I don't think I could say anything more except for what I always say when a movie leaves a deep imprint in my heart: Kudos to the entire cast and crew! 

(Sorry, but I cannot write about this film without some spoilers) We were only four people in the cinema and all of us knew each other. Why? Because I watched it with my mom, my dad and my younger brother. It was always pretty awkward watching a restricted film with my parents in a public  theater, so I was feeling a bit iffy, but I don't think I would have it any other way.  After all, we were all adults.  My dad's in his late 70's, my mom's in her mid 70s, plus my brother and I were both in our 40's so I guess it was perfectly alright. When we entered the cinema after mom bought her dress for tonight's event(my dad's classmate's 80th birthday at the Marriott ), I had no idea what it was about.  As a person born with itchy feet (I love to travel) , if I had known that this was a movie about the prevention of hijacking or the like, I wouldn't have watched it.  I've seen enough flicks to traumatize me.  For one reason or another, I was not able to read any advertisement about this and I was not given the chance to see the trailer.
