By the Sea (2015) R-18

Set in France during the mid-1970s, Vanessa, a former dancer, and her husband Roland, an American writer, travel the country together. They seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper and a hotel owner. - Written by Production There were many reasons why I chose not to blog about this, but here I am writing this entry anyway. The story was so-so.  I have seen a lot of these types of films while growing up and when I didn't know better, I wrote a lot of these types of films before and I burned the most unedifying ones. Blue Jasmine, a beautiful, but tragic film by Woody Allen (2013)

Trailer There is no doubt that this is a very well-acted film. The choices of characters were perfect and each did their jobs well, most especially Cate Blanchett and Sally Hawkins, who play non-biological sisters(Jasmine and Ginger were both adopted by their parents).   Among the men, I think I like Peter Skargaard's acting the best.  Alec Baldwin was also good, but he's too used (or typecast) to playing that kind of role.    Charlie Tahan, who plays the young Danny, was exceptional.  Maybe I'm just biased because I've already gotten fond of him because of his other movies. I don't know why Woody Allen decided to end it that way , but I guess it worked because the movie was not a flop.  It was even a box office success. I know a lot of people like Jasmine.  Most of the time, when a person who had it all almost all of his or her life loses everything (or almost everything),  he or she could not cope.  He or she would ha...
