JASON PAUL LAXAMA'S BETWEEN MAYBES(2019) starring Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson

Image
From Google Images Written and Directed by JASON PAUL LAXAMANA From Cosmopolitan Philippines via Julia Barretto A son of deported OFWs meets a once famous child star, now 21, who is running away from all her problems, in a beautiful place in Japan where there are almost no other Filipinos #JuliaBarretto #GeraldAnderson #SagaJapan #BetweenMaybes #JasonPaulLaxama #YayoAguila #ChristianVasquez #RyleSantiago source Spoiler?  Not really.   BETWEEN MAYBES is a pleasant surprise.  Who would've thought GERALD ANDERSON and JULIA BARRETTO would have believable moments together, and have great chemistry?  Both are gorgeous, and both of them can really act, so why didn't we ever imagine that they could have a movie together where they play each other's love interest?  The age difference?  Maybe, but I think that's not it.   Instead of overthinking or overanalysing this, let's just be grateful that "they" though...

My Perfect You (2018) PG

( source ) #Abilieve (I believe) #AbieautifulBridge (A beautiful bridge) ( source ) Synopsis from Star Cinema: “My Perfect You” is the story of Burn (Gerald Anderson), a man who’s down in the dumps, and Abi (Pia Wurtzbach), the girl who helps him see the light again. Will they find the perfect love for them or will they have to face heartbreak again? My Perfect You may have been marketed as a rom-com, but there's more to it than meets the eye.  It tackles heavy subject matters including genetics,  psychology and other things related to them. The movie's central characters, Abi and Burn, played by PIA WURTZBACH and GERALD ANDERSON, are so perfect for each other that you would ask yourself, "What's the catch?" "Is there a punchline somewhere?" The actors have great onscreen chemistry and I wouldn't be surprised if they would have other projects together.  Both of them could really act and both of them praise their director, MS. CA...

Halik sa Hangin (2015)

Image
( source ) Directed by Manny Palo Written by Enrico Santos Halik sa Hangin  is a sensual romantic horror movie, according to PEP correspondent,  Jocelyn Dimaculangan . After watching the film, I must say that I agree, but it is not without flaws and the story is not new, therefore it is very, very predictable.  When the scary scenes were shown, people behind us were laughing.  I feel that the shooting of this movie was rushed.   Enrico Santos is a very good writer and I am sure that if he were given more time, he could have made the twists better and more thought-provoking.  At any rate, the film is still worth watching.   Both Gerald and Julia have, for lack of a better term, blossomed, both physically and as actors.  They are also blessed to have seasoned actors as costars and there were pretty good scenes.  Miguel Vergara, a child I  met  in ONE MORE TRY(A world class movie, I must say), is pretty good ...

OTJ (On the Job)---just some random thoughts (2013)

Deplorable...Despicable...Disturbing Reviews On the Job: Cannes Review by Neil Young With ‘On The Job’, Erik Matti delivers an instant classic On the Job: It's "bitter" in the Philippines Erik Matti  is a very versatile director and one of the best writers this country has produced. ON THE JOB(OTJ), for me anyway, is his best so far, as a writer and director. If you're looking for a film review, go ahead and click the links above.  I think everything has been said already.  After all, this film has received a lot of accolades already.  Some say that except for that "extra" love scene(I don't know which one), the one shown in the Philippines is a tamer version. Until I watch the one viewed in the Cannes Festival, I really wouldn't know. All I know is that when I watched the film, I was very, very impressed with everyone . There's one thing, among others, my parents and I noticed.  For a PMA graduate with a law degree who is a...
