Alone/Together (2019)

Image
From Google Images Alone Together earns P61.9 million in two days, says ABS-CBN subsidiary Written and directed by the critically acclaimed Antoinette Jadaone , Alone/Together, is a story many, if not all, can relate to.  Most of us, when we were very young and idealistic we wanted to change the world, but end up being the scum we thought we'd never be.  LIZA SOBERANO is really more than a pretty face.  She's intelligent, and a true thespian.  I love her chemistry with real life beau, ENRIQUE GIL.  Even if they are both in love with each other in real life, they made us believe they were...are...Tin and Raf.  Yes, they were Tin and Raf, who drawn to each other the instant they came across each other at our National Museum  in front of Juan Luna's Spoliarium . The two have an instant connection that if you haven't the slightest idea what this story about, you would wonder how Aly( Jasmine Curtis-Smith ) and Greg( Adrian Alandy ) became a p...

Imagine You and Me (G) 2016

Image
(source) Che bella! A certified blockbuster/box office hit It's true.  I am one of those who love the AlDub tandem, though I must say that I'm a late bloomer.  I didn't jump the bandwagon all at once.  It took time for me to appreciate these two young artists as a pair, but they "grew on me". Even if I love them, I was so out of the loop for the longest time that when one of my closest friends invited me and another of my closest friends to watch #IYAM, I never imagined I would like it so much...that WE would like is so much. The quality of the film is of International Caliber.  Only a portion of the film was shot in the Philippines, but even if almost the whole movie was set in Italy, the story captures the hearts of Global Filipinos anywhere in the world(yes, it seems redundant, but...). Judging from the posts of my other friends, every cinema was jam-packed.  It was not the case at the Director's Club Cinema 1, SM BF, so I hope thi...

Halik sa Hangin (2015)

Image
( source ) Directed by Manny Palo Written by Enrico Santos Halik sa Hangin  is a sensual romantic horror movie, according to PEP correspondent,  Jocelyn Dimaculangan . After watching the film, I must say that I agree, but it is not without flaws and the story is not new, therefore it is very, very predictable.  When the scary scenes were shown, people behind us were laughing.  I feel that the shooting of this movie was rushed.   Enrico Santos is a very good writer and I am sure that if he were given more time, he could have made the twists better and more thought-provoking.  At any rate, the film is still worth watching.   Both Gerald and Julia have, for lack of a better term, blossomed, both physically and as actors.  They are also blessed to have seasoned actors as costars and there were pretty good scenes.  Miguel Vergara, a child I  met  in ONE MORE TRY(A world class movie, I must say), is pretty good ...

Bonifacio, Ang Unang Pangulo (2014-MMFF Entry)

Image
#BonifacioAngUnangPangulo #BuhayinAngRebolusyon #MMFF2014 Andres Bonifacio: Myths, trivia, execution FULL LIST: Winners, MMFF 2014 awards night Whether this is the real story or not, this movie deserves the honor for being the BEST PICTURE.  The story is beautifully weaved and even if there are debates about the events and about the great grand father of my friends, it is very believable.   If this is going to be the only  basis of our history, I would not question it at all.  It is very, very convincing.    The script and the acting are very superb.  It is a true team effort.  The problem is, there are a lot of versions written by different historians that would disprove this, but then again, that was what the curator(Eddie Garcia) was trying to convey to the students.   Most of the history books got it wrong, according to him . I wanted to enjoy the movie so I set aside everything I learned from history.  I like h...
