In Your Eyes (2010)

Image
Source Unlike the other old  films I have been reposting or have written new  things about recently, I have never watched this one inside a theatre.  I watched this at the comforts of my home, and I must say I shed a lot of tears.  I think there was a total of three times when I had been in situations when I chose to let go of someone because of doing the right thing.  I do not have a DNA/blood/flesh sister, so nothing of this sort happened to me, but I have been at both ends of the rope before, and one situation was more difficult.  There's a fourth situation which I couldn't categorise, but my heart is wrenched just the same.  So is it really better to have loved and lost than not to love at all? When Ciara(Claudine Barretto) saw Dennis(Leandro Muñoz) with his wife, and Storm(Richard Gutierrez) came  to the rescue, a similar situation came to mind, unfortunately I did not have someone like Storm to rescue me.  I thought to myself...

The Unmarried Wife (2016)

Image
Source Two years ago I was supposed to watch this with a friend, and I waited for her to set a schedule because she's the one who gave me the idea that this was a great movie to watch.  Days passed then it was not showing anywhere near anymore.  I told myself I would just wait for it to be available online or something. Just recently ABS-CBN promoted this movie again, so I got interested.   Honestly, I've read a review saying that it was " competent but conventional ".  When I watched the movie all I could tell myself is that I like it. I do agree with some parts, but maybe, just maybe because I am a woman, I have a different view on things.  I respect the writer's opinion/s nevertheless. ❤❤❤ Sometimes we become the people we hate.  We judge people, but when the same thing happens to us, we either understand or forget that we were once at the other end of the rope. I love Keiko Aquino's story and I like how it was presented...

EX with BENEFITS (2015) R-13

Image
How do I describe this movie without giving spoilers?  Hmm.  Let me think.  Ah, I think I know how.  Directed by Gino M. Santos Written by Jeff Stelton and Keiko Aquino Loosely based on or inspired by the  Wattpad   sensation by  youramnesiagirl  of the same title, is a story of finding your self worth and about living.  It's also about relationships not of the romantic kind and about responsibility.  This movie is NOT all about sex.  There's more to it than that .  It also doesn't stereotype med reps and doctors. Things like these  happen whatever profession or non-profession you are in, and even if there are people like that  in real life, we must believe that there are more people who live life with integrity(listen to Carmi Martin's lines somewhere in the movie), so please don't be scared to watch this. This movie is about loving, losing, sacrificing, being selfless et cetera, et ce...

Turning_Japanese's YOUR PLACE OR MINE? (2015)---Big Screen version

Image
One night with a total stranger. And fate brought them together once again. That's where their whirlwind romance started.- WWW A movie the Philippines is not ready for, I guess The title and the start of the story might make some people I know raise some eyebrows, but YOUR PLACE OR MINE? as a whole is a beautiful movie. I hope more people, 15 and up(well, they say people 13 and up can watch it, but I'll go with 15), would watch this movie.  Directed by: Joel Lamangan Story by: Turning_Japanese (wattpad) Written for the screen by: Keiko A. Bonifacio, Ang Unang Pangulo (2014-MMFF Entry)

Image
#BonifacioAngUnangPangulo #BuhayinAngRebolusyon #MMFF2014 Andres Bonifacio: Myths, trivia, execution FULL LIST: Winners, MMFF 2014 awards night Whether this is the real story or not, this movie deserves the honor for being the BEST PICTURE.  The story is beautifully weaved and even if there are debates about the events and about the great grand father of my friends, it is very believable.   If this is going to be the only  basis of our history, I would not question it at all.  It is very, very convincing.    The script and the acting are very superb.  It is a true team effort.  The problem is, there are a lot of versions written by different historians that would disprove this, but then again, that was what the curator(Eddie Garcia) was trying to convey to the students.   Most of the history books got it wrong, according to him . I wanted to enjoy the movie so I set aside everything I learned from history.  I like h...

TALK BACK AND YOU'RE DEAD (2014) #TBYD

Image
Alabang Town Center Cinema 4 Facebook Page Talk Back And You're Dead is the first installment of the Talk Back Trilogy of  Alesana Marie  originally published in WATTPAD, but can now be bought at any of the National Bookstore or Power Books Branches Nationwide.  It revolves around childhood sweethearts Timmy and Sammy, their friends, family and other people close to them. Although it is also a movie about school gangsters, it is very, very different from SHE'S DATING A GANGSTER .  For me, this story is very reminiscent of the kind of movies Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion did during their teenage years, most especially the ones produced by Viva Films, but different. The helicopters, the large estates, rich feuding families, fixed marriages, etc.   The movie version is written by Keiko Aquino and directed by Andoy Ranay ( Trophy Wife ).  I think I am getting fond of this team.  People still found flaws, but hey.  ...

Trophy Wife (2014) R-13 Movie(NOT the TV series)

Image
For the TV series, click " this "  DIRECTED BY Andoy Ranay WRITTEN BY Keiko Aquino PRODUCED BY  Viva Films STARRING: DEREK RAMSAY , HEART EVANGELISTA , CRISTINE REYES , JAIME FABREGAS , DOLLY DE LEON , LUZ VALDEZ ,  JACKIE LOU BLANCO,   JOHN ESTRADA , G TOENGI and others The story, according to my mom, is nothing new, but the twists and turns were beautifully planned and crafted by the master storyteller, KEIKO AQUINO .   ANDOY RANAY , as always, did not disappoint.  Even if this project was not originally his, he did his best to try  and make this film as perfect as possible. There were a few goofs, but I don't think a lot of people noticed it.  I won't mention them, but see if you would notice them yourselves. If I were you, I would just relax and enjoy the movie.   This is, according to her, Cristine Reyes ' last sexy  film and I know that a lot of guys would be disappointed, but we're praising God for it. ...

10,000 Hours

Image
From imdb This movie is loosely based on the life story of former Senator Ping Lacson who is now the rehabilitation czar of the places that were slaughtered by Super Typhoon Yolanda aka Haiyan. 10,000 HOURS is an action-packed thinkers movie.  When I watched this movie, I set aside the fact  that it was based on the former senator's plight and treated it as a pure work of fiction.  Still, with a few hitches, it was as real as real could be.  The scenes in Amsterdam brought me to the edge of my seat.  It was if I was a real bystander or perhaps, a stalker, watching everything while it is happening. Probably because of the familiar places, et cetera . Yes, it was not perfect, but it deserved its best picture award compared to the other movies that are playing in this year's MMFF. Robin Padilla is not just an action star, but is also a very good actor.  He is very convincing as the young looking Senator Gabriel Alcaraz whose q...

When The Love Is Gone (Graded A by the Film Ratings Board) R-13 Romance/Drama- 2013

Image
Official Trailer When I heard Alice Dixson utter the classic infamous line, "Nandiyan ba ang asawa ko, na asawa mo, na asawa ng buong bayan?" in the trailer of WHEN THE LOVE HAS GONE,  I said to myself, "Wait, I've heard that line before!" Or something to that effect.  I was not wrong.  Something similar to those lines were uttered by Laurice Guillen as Delza in NAGALIT ANG BUWAN SA HABA NG GABI (click to read the story written and directed by Danny L. Zialcita...Since the blogger doesn't know the name of the actor who played Antonio Almeda aka UP Boy, I'll tell you that his name is Tommy Alvarado)---more below Alice Dixson, Gabby Concepcion, Cristine Reyes, Andi Eigenmann and Jake Cuenca Source Except for the very long title(in terms of syllables), the movie this one was based on, is very beautiful.  When Janice de Belen played the role of Jenny, I felt her pain...her agony. All of the members of cast f...

MomZillas (not a review) 2013

Image
Some tips before watching the movie(or before playing the LEGAL DVD in the future): Remember, this is a Comedy Full Length Film Feature.  While watching, please don't over analyze any situation. Sit back, relax, enjoy the movie, have a barrel of laughter(most of the time).  MomZillas is a very enjoyable movie.  The wit and humor of two award winning versatile actors along with the rest who supported them was definitely worth watching. Eugene Domingo is one of my favorites(she's so versatile, intelligent and wise) and I practically "grew up" with the Diamond Star(I've been watching her since she was six...well, I watched reruns cause although I was already alive when she was six, I don't think I would've appreciated her acting because everything would be a blur and so I guess it's safe to say that I've been following her career since she was ten) so I happily awaited for this film to be shown in the cinemas.  I must say, it was w...
