Source FRIENDS IN LOVE Whenever I watch this movie I am convinced that even in the 1980s there were many local films of international calibre. This is such a beautiful story by Orlando Nadres written for the screen by Soxie Topacio and directed by the indefatigable Eddie Garcia. The actors were carefully chosen, and they all were able immerse into their roles.  I love the flow of the story and even if it didn't deal with people in the poverty line, the story is very believable and it is relatable. It doesn't matter if Brent International School was sort of fictionalised here, because the scenes in the school were very credible.  ݉݉݉݉݉݉݉݉ It has been more than 35 years since it was shown.  All of the main actors, except for Rowell Santiago, have grown children.  All four are successful in their respective fields, et cetera, et cetera. ( source ) This is one of my favourite movies of all time.  I think I've seen this movie about twelve times or more.  It was June 2003 the first time I've seen this, and each time I watch this is like the first time. The casting is perfect and even if there are ads in the movie, they are done in good taste(present tense intentional). It has some funny moments and there are lots of endearing scenes.  Based on the flashbacks, there were scenes of Raffy and Alex's togetherness or bonding that weren't shown during the first part of the movie, meaning their intimacy was not really in an instant like most viewers perceived it to be.  Well, even without those flashbacks, it wasn't really in an instant, but it was sort of like whirlwind kind of thing. Chona and Boyet had some great intimate moments here...oops, I mean, Alex and Raffy.  They both kiss well and the audience could feel the intensity of their emotions. Alabang Town Center, Cinema 4 New Year's Day My two cents worth: You really cannot compare #WalangForever to this film because they belong to two different genres.  Though debatable , I could understand why #WalangForever won.  Jennylyn and Jericho were naturals and the story was so beautiful.  Still, what they did to HONOR THY FATHER was unfair .  They were the ones who gave the invitation for this film to join the MMFF.  They should have given it a chance to be judged fairly.  Instead, they looked for loopholes.  If it were really disqualified, how come they were qualified for other categories?
