Movies Genre: Animation Disturbing psycho-thriller. (R-18) Whew. I guess it's a good thing that I was warned about this movie. More than a couple of my friends told me its plot is not for the weak of heart so I watched it when I was floating on air(forgot the exact date, but I was "in love" THAT time). This film was written by Sadayuki Murai from the novel by Yoshikazu Takeuchi, directed by Satoshi Kon.   Satoshi Kon is becoming one of my favorite directors.  I still say he did a good directorial job here, but is the story any good? I felt Mima's pain...her loss of identity...her wanting to be real as real as she could be....she didn't like where destiny brought her to...she didn't need someone stalking her and forcing her to do stuff she didn't wanna do...she needed to find herself and be herself. The DC mini was invented by a young doctor named Dr. Tokita. Like any inventor with a noble cause, Tokita envisioned the device to be a great help in solving problems of future patients. Unfortunately, three of the prototypes were stolen. This is where the trouble begins. Science is a wonderful "gift" to mankind, but once misused, danger not only lurks in one corner...it makes itself known. This is the thrust of the story by Seishi Minakami collaborated with the famous director himself. No one can play God. If he/she tries to be God, he/she will destruct, rather than create. I liked this movie...the merging of dreams...the merging of characters...In the first 45 minutes of the film I was already rating it with three stars, but the last ten minutes convinced me it's a four. Middle-aged alcoholic Gin (Toru Emori), teenage runaway Miyuki (Aya Okamoto) and former drag queen Hana (Yoshiaki Umegaki) are a trio of homeless people surviving as a makeshift family on the streets of Tokyo. While rummaging in the trash for food on Christmas Eve, they stumble upon an abandoned newborn baby in a trash bin. With only a handful of clues to the baby's identity, the three misfits search the streets of Tokyo for help in returning the baby to its parents.-WWW Tokyo Godfathers- 東京ゴッドファーザーズ Tōkyō Goddofāzāzu ,  though very, very different,  kind of reminded me of Three Men and a Baby (and its sequel). There were a lot of Asian films (including Filipino Films) that had this plot too, but I must say that there is something about Satoshi Kon's (and Keiko Nobumoto's) style that enthralls me.
