Last Night (R-13?) 2017

Image
( source ) ( source ) Was it because of the "suicide" theme?  Is that the reason why they rated it R-13?  Maleficent is more traumatic than this movie and there are many animated films that gave children and adults alike sleepless nights, so I don't get it.  Why give this that kind of rating?  The movie is actually refreshing.  It could have "landed" sooner than later, but notwithstanding the prolonged scenes, the movie gives a light giddy feeling inside. I was warned that it had a "twist", but it was not what I expected the twist would be.  It wasn't the first time that one of the characters was like "that", but it was a bit different.  Bela is indeed a raconteur extraordinaire , and I would surely watch her other screenplays in the future, with or without her. The acting is good and so is the direction, but I'll leave everything else to the experts:   REVIEW: ‘Last Night’ is dark, mysterious, and captivating MOV...

Star Cinema's You're My Boss(2015) PG 13

A woman who is looking for acceptance, who's looking for love, who wants to be appreciated and who wants to belong find what she's looking for from her personal assistant.- WWW Last Saturday, when everyone was lining up for Furious 7(2015)  and me and my nephew were off to watch Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water(I'm not going to write about this---I just watched this movie out of love for my nephew), nobody seemed to be lining up for this movie. When it was announced that it earned PhP25 Million in the first two days, I couldn't believe it.  I thought it was some hype or something, like when this super popular Filipino singer claimed that all seats were taken at the MGM Grand, but I saw that it was a flop, that I thought the stats were exaggerated or something. I have nothing against the actors.  I like them both, but I still thought it was a hype until I watched it myself. The story was conceptualized by Celestine "Toni" Gonzaga, and it was writt...

Starting Over Again (2014 movie)

Image
Some time ago last year, Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual started to film UNLOVE YOU, which eventually evolved into this now mega blockbuster hit, STARTING OVER AGAIN. I was supposed to watch this with my closest friends Pia, Inggie and Eise, but because of unavoidable circumstances and my being indisposed, our barkada  date was cancelled. Finally,  I was able to watch this great movie yesterday with my brother, Karl.   Honestly, even if a lot of people gave spoilers and I already knew the ending, I was still surprised with a lot of scenes.   The dialogues were well thought of and flashbacks weren't confusing. The whole ensemble's perfect .  Even if I couldn't imagine how Lito Pimentel and Yayo Aguila could conjure  Toni, it didn't matter. They were all great in playing their roles.  I don't think anyone else was thinking about that anyways.   Who did I relate with? Patty or Ginny? A part of me is Patty and a part of me is ...

YOU ARE THE ONE (song lyrics and video at the bottom) 2006

What made me watch this film?  The trailer! It was beautifully made...It tickled my fancy...Sheesh. I was waiting for this movie to show a month ago and finally, we were able to watch it! We nearly lost RJ several times already and every moment spent with him is cherished. I know people might not understand how much I love my brother, but that's just it...I do! One week before watching the movie, we prepped him not to walk out. He walked out on HITCH (mom and I had to talk had ourselved stamped, brought him home then watched the movie again---we love it),  MADAGASCAR (I still don't get why he didn't like this film), DON'T GIVE UP ON US (Judy Ann Santos and Piolo Pascual---mom joined him and I had to finish the movie alone) and I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU when Cecille, Angel Locsin's role, Cecille, ran away from Andrew, her groom played by James Blanco to be with Justin(Richard Gutierrez). We prayed hard that he would finish this film like he did ...
