Blood Father (R-13) 2016

Image
From Youtube and Lionsgate BLOOD FATHER stars Mel Gibson as John Link, an ex-convict who fights to protect his estranged daughter from the drug cartel that is hunting her down. In this thrilling action film, John must use his connections from his past life and his skills as an ex-criminal to keep him and his daughter alive. BLOOD FATHER also stars Erin Moriarty, Diego Luna, Michael Parks, and William H. Macy. BLOOD FATHER will be released by Lionsgate Premiere in theaters August 12, 2016. #BloodFather #latepost  (note: like some of the movies that I liked or loved or still like or still love, I wasn't able to see a single trailer or poster...we watched this because it was the only thing "playing" that we haven't seen---well, there's THE UNMARRIED WIFE that I was supposed to watch with a friend, but she went to Cebu for a convention, so I am hoping to watch that with Bestie---so we bought tickets...Silly me.  I thought it was another vampire movie. LOL)

From The Wrap.Com I'm at a loss for words.  That's strange because I am usually verbose.  I was dumbfounded by the special effects and the story. I love the cliff hanger and I can't wait for the second installment. I honestly haven't read the book, so I cannot say if I like the movie better or not.  All I know is that I love it!  I'll try to think of comments and I would put them beside the name of each cast member. I want to congratulate the whole team , most especially James Newton Howard for the background music that bring out all types of emotions; Philippe Rousselot for the awesome cinematography; Mark Day for the almost seamless, if not seamless editing and David Yates for a great directorial "job". ( source ) The year is 1926, and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and g

Helen and Bruce Lea and Eric Alison Cris DRAMATIS PERSONAE Cris Villonco as 43 year old Alison Bechdel/Narrator (Congratulations, Cris.  If  did not know better, I would think you are Alison Bechdel himself...you sang and narrated well...your acting?  You weren't acting at all. You truly are versatile. Keep it up. Break more legs! ;-D  ) Eric Kunze as Bruce Allen Bechdel/Dad (His singing reminded me of Les Miserables...wait, he was there...he was Marius when Ms. Salonga was Eponine...his voice is so melodically resonant and he does act well.) Ms. Lea Salonga as Helen Augusta Fontana Bechdel/mom (seamless acting...I felt Helen's pain, anxiety...almost everything, if not everything, that was going on inside of her...to be trapped in that kind of marriage because of, what's the word? Duty?...my heart is wrenched...when she was talking to Alison about "the past"(Days and Days), tears flowed like waterfalls.) Andee Achacoso and Katie Bradshaw as the y

Ben Affleck as THE ACCOUNTANT (2016)--- not a review

Image
From youtube ( source ) Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a mathematics savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a freelance accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. With a Treasury agent (J.K. Simmons) hot on his heels, Christian takes on a  state-of-the-art robotics company as a legitimate client. As Wolff gets closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, the body count starts to rise. -WWW Growing up with PG and RJ, both autistic savants, broadened my horizon.  When people called both of them abnormal, I would shout to them, "Define normal!", among other things.  Some are not even fit to be written on this blog entry.  Some couldn't even imagine I could utter such things to my brothers' aggravators and the like, but that's the reality. Thank goodness for movies like RAIN MAN, MERCURY RISING and this one, THE ACCOUNTANT, people are no

Claudia Gray's A MILLION WORLDS WITH YOU

Image
The closest I ever got to being in a multiverse is a 5-Dimensional ride or a 3-Dimensional movie and that's not even "the same". This last part of Firebird trilogy is both exciting and terrifying at the same time.  No, it's actually a labyrinth of emotions, mostly unfathomable, but believable. Will this trilogy become a movie? I think it's going to be a box office hit.  Of course, there will still be comparisons and most probably people would say the book is better, but it would be great to see the characters in a "live action" movie. It's like The Matrix, Quantum Leap, Star Trek and others melded together. Claudia Gray's grammar might not be perfect like mine, but she is a true and very good raconteur.  She has made my imagination run wild. We should really be careful of our actions and the choices we make.  Whether we like it or not, our decision affects the whole world in one way or the other. This sci-fi romance trilogy shows us

Defying stereotypes: Bakit lahat ng gwapo may boyfriend? (2016)

Image
Warning:  There are spoilers "BAKIT LAHAT NG GWAPO MAY BOYFRIEND?"  defies stereotypes, and it is a beautiful movie, but maybe the timing of showing was off.   It was shown after the Angel Locsin/Sam Milby/Zanjoe Marudo film called THIRD PARTY.  I think people thought that it was too soon to watch a movie of a similar theme/genre.   Bestie thinks, and I agree with her, that maybe the problem is that it was not promoted well. It is also filled with parodies of different movies and a couple of examples are MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING andTHE PROPOSAL. There were many funny scenes and dialogue.  The film was written and directed well.  It is truly a team effort, so I shrug my shoulders and pout because it truly is a pity that this is not a box office hit.  It should be.   We have set notions about certain people and their actions.  Yes, we tend to put people in boxes.  People have judged people who act in a certain way and after putting them insid
