A friend of mine who was losing his faith in the Spider-man franchise felt good and is now very excited to watch Spider-man 3.  I have a the same sentiments.   The movie is amazing from start to finish.  I now understand why Mary Jane was not introduced in the first installment and in this current one.  It's because it's Gwen Stacy's moment .  It just wouldn't be right to ruin that moment. The special participation of Stan Lee always adds life to any Marvel Comic based movie and this is no exception. The special effects, the acting, everything...everything's great! Even the villains are exceptional.  My seven-year-old nephew even knows the drill .  He stayed until the end credits.  He's excited because the X-men and Spidey would... ;-) (I told him that maybe his guess was wrong, but he's still excited anyways) Anyways, this Spidey movie is not without flaws, but for me, it's one of the best versions ever. 12 YEARS A SLAVE deserves all the accolades and awards it received.  It opened my eyes to a lot of things.  Some of the things I knew about slavery and human trafficking have been sanitized.  Human trafficking is real and until now, there are people who are being taken out of their comfort zones being sold.  Some become prostitutes and some are forced into labor.  Like this movie, some even do both, even more. Solomon Northup was born free in New York City.  He was more than comfortable.  In fact, he was affluent.  He was also very smart and had a very loving family and when he was kidnapped by those demented beings who pretended to be his fans, the things he thought he did not have to experience crushed all his hopes and dreams. Chiwetel Ejiofor , for me, even if I have so much respect and admiration for Matthew McConaughey, IS the best actor among all contenders.   He made me see how people who were misquoting the Holy Bible, ...

When I was a little girl I often wondered why Walt Disney changed all the endings and twists of popular fairy tales and the like. As I was watching this film, I understood.  He wanted to give joy, or at the very least, happiness, to everyone. Yes, the movie is only 95% true, more or less, making Pamela Lyndon Travers more human, added the very cheerful Ralph(and his daughter, Jane) to make her less obnoxious and did not mention her adopted son, Camillus. Yes, they did give P.L. Travers a  spoonful of sugarcoating , but hey, it's the movies.  How real is reel?  The screenplay, for me, was wonderfully weaved.  Kelly Marcel and her co-writer, Sue Smith, researched it well and gave P.L. Travers a heart. Annie Rose Buckley overshadowed everyone.  Yes, Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks were the stars of the movie and they played their roles well.
