Paglipad Ng Anghel/Flight of An Angel (2011)

Source It's not as if Gabby is sinless.  He occasionally cusses, he drinks alcohol, he has a temper and he does get those urges like a normal human being has, but his wings just grew and grew after the old lady he helped died in the Monastery. One time, he even had sex with some conniving serpent, for her career advancement.  God looked beyond that and let him keep his wings. De La Salle University celebrated its Centennial Year with PAGLIPAD NG ANGHEL as one of its offerings.  It was beautifully made, as directed by Dr. Clodualdo Del Mundo, Jr. I really have no idea if this was released commercially, but it looked like it was done by professionals. The actors are all perfect for their respective roles and it wasn't that predictable. 🎬🎬🎬🎥🎥🎥🎬🎬🎬 Written and Directed by Dr. Clodualdo Del Mundo, Jr. CAST from imdb : Sid Lucero ... Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous(ay mali...Friends in Love pala) 1983

Source FRIENDS IN LOVE Whenever I watch this movie I am convinced that even in the 1980s there were many local films of international calibre. This is such a beautiful story by Orlando Nadres written for the screen by Soxie Topacio and directed by the indefatigable Eddie Garcia. The actors were carefully chosen, and they all were able immerse into their roles.  I love the flow of the story and even if it didn't deal with people in the poverty line, the story is very believable and it is relatable. It doesn't matter if Brent International School was sort of fictionalised here, because the scenes in the school were very credible.  ݉݉݉݉݉݉݉݉ It has been more than 35 years since it was shown.  All of the main actors, except for Rowell Santiago, have grown children.  All four are successful in their respective fields, et cetera, et cetera. When this was being shown I was head over heels...well, I'm sure I wasn't in love so I let's just say I had a humo...

My Illegal Wife (2014)

Wikipedia WATCH: Steven De Guzman dances ‘My Illegal Wife’ theme—‘Akin Ka Na Lang’ This kid is really very, very talented. The SAVING GRACE We watched this movie on a Monday, meaning I'm the only one who had to pay for my way in because my parents didn't have to.  It's a good thing because my dad's head kept shaking.  Mom liked it and thought that Pokwang was even more beautiful than Ellen Adarna(maybe because her role here is not worth loving). The members of the supporting cast were all good and that little boy called Steven De Guzman as Liam was wonderful.  Well, I guess I could call him the saving grace  of this movie. Mae "Juana Change" Paner was awesome as Janet Lee Napulis. Of course, Joy Viado, Anita Linda, Pooh, Empoy, Edgar Allan Guzman and Beauty Gonzalez were very effective. :-)   Pokwang played the role of a woman who was ONLY 39 years old with a teenage daughter and a young son  who love each other dearly.  E...

Bride For Rent(2014)

"FOREVER may not be PERFECT but it is POSSIBLE!"-Taken from their FB page  Unrated, 1 hr. 36 min. Romance ,  Comedy ,  Special Interest Directed By: Mae Czarina Cruz Written By:     Carmi Raymundo and Charlene Grace Bernardo In Theaters: Jan 15, 2014 Whew. Finally, I'm going to write about this movie. Why did take me so long to write about this when I've even watched it two times because I enjoyed it too much?  My, oh my. I don't know why. Sigh. Perhaps it's because somehow it has hit a soft spot. Sigh. I think I'm more of Rocco than Rocky, but I also see a little bit of Rocky in me. Kim Chiu is very admirable here.  Yes, there was a screenplay, but there were scenes(directions) that gave her freedom to say anything she wanted.  Her role as Raquelita De La Cruz a.k.a. Rocky is someone most of our kababayans  can relate to.  She is hardworking, but even in dire need, she believes th...
