Venom (2018)

Image
From Google Images Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady(mid credits) a.k.a. Carnage, Riz Ahmed as Carlton Drake the host of Riot, Michelle Williams as D.A. Anne Weying, Jenny Slate as Dr. Dora Skirth, Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock the host of Venom Matthew Labatique is the Director of Photagraphy Honestly, I thought I was not going to watch this.  I was really grossed out by the trailer and was convinced I would not be seen alive in a theatre showing it. What made me change my mind?  People were talking about it when we were having coffee and they were saying it was funny and witty. Funny?  What? So I searched for reviews and here's one of those that I read: Venom is a fun, twisted rom-com disguised as a bad superhero movie I read these two below after watching the movie: Movie Review: Venom Shows That Even When Executed Horribly, You Can’t Keep a Great Idea Down ‘VENOM’ REVIEW: TOM HARDY IS A TREASURE, EVEN IF THIS MOVIE IS...

Image
Source Young Han Solo finds adventure when he joins a gang of galactic smugglers, including a 196-year-old Wookie named Chewbacca. Indebted to the gangster Dryden Vos, the crew devises a daring plan to travel to the mining planet Kessel to steal a batch of valuable coaxium. In need of a fast ship, Solo meets Lando Calrissian, the suave owner of the perfect vessel for the dangerous mission -- the Millennium Falcon.  -WWW Screenplay by Jonathan Kasdan and Lawrence Kasdan ( George Lucas 's cowriter in Episode 5(The Empire Strikes Back) and 6(Return of the Jedi). He also wrote Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, a video game and The Force Awakens) Directed by Ron Howard Music by John Williams and John Powell A lot of people would agree with me.  This movie should have been called Chewie: A Star Wars story instead.  At any rate, as approved by the great Harrison Ford, Alden Ehrenreich did not disappoint anyway. There is nothing wrong with the screenplay, the acting...

Mockingjay Part 2 the second time

Image
With my "twin" The first time I watched Mockingjay Part 2 , my heart felt so heavy, but I still tried to see it in a good light.  It wasn't bad, but I was disappointed with a lot of things.  Suzanne Collins' message is very strong and powerful, but when I looked around the theater, almost everyone was forlorn, like they were expecting the movie to be better than expected. Well, there's that, and the fact that there were a lot of heart-wrenching scenes too, enough to make people feel morose and that's how the book made a lot of people feel too, anyway.    Jennifer Lawrence did great acting wise.  Probably that's why she is the highest paid actor, even if I still think that it is unfair.  Again, I'll leave the technical aspects to the experts.  I don't have the right to judge  or criticize  those things.   What about the other actors?  I cannot complain.  They all did their jobs well, most especially the ve...

Mockingjay Part 2 (2015)

Image
Jennifer Lawrence is the highest paid or most valuable star, making RDJ only the second highest paid.  Is she worth it?  She's a very effective actor and I like her, but I think Hollywood is overdoing it.  Did she do justice to Katniss?  Of course she did, but... Mockingjay Part 2 was OK, but I did not appreciate it as much as I did Part 1.  When it was over, I was just glad it was, making me almost tell my friends I wouldn't want to watch it again, but I made a promise to watch it with them soon.  Who knows?  Maybe I'll like it better the second time around. It's not bad.  I like it too, but for a finale, I kind of expected something greater...something out of the ordinary. (I'll be watching this again on the 30th of November.  I'll create  a separate blog entry to update you if the second time around is indeed "sweeter".) Mockingjay 1

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay(Part 1) Movie(2014)

Image
Directed by  Francis Lawrence Writing Credits   Peter Craig ... (screenplay) and Danny Strong ... (screenplay) Suzanne Collins ... (adaptation) Suzanne Collins ... (novel " Mockingjay ") My movie dates :-)   Book versus Movie THE HUNGER GAMES trilogy is dystopic as dystopic could be.  Almost every scene is heartbreaking.  It is very futuristic, but the whims of The Capitol is very, very barbaric.  Politics and showbiz are at their worst.  Graft and corruption is vehemently displayed.   Slaves  are mere toys for the powerful.  It's a if they were only born to entertain the upper crust of society.  It does not matter if they have to die in the end.  All the exciting scenes are reserved for part 2, but you won't be able to appreciate it that much if you won't watch the first part. They(the rebels and The Capitol), try to make everything exciting.   The Capitol is trying to dis...

Now You See Me (2013)

Image
The four horsemen (Isla Fisher, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco) My brother told me this when we were watching INDEPENDENCE DAY for the nth time, "Goofs? What goofs? It's only a movie." With that in mind I would not dare mention the goofs of this film . The scenes are simply wonderful and the story and treatment are almost perfect.  The car chases are exciting and so are the magic tricks  and illusions.  I know that a lot of people were kind of expecting more, so they just got disappointed. Yet, there were also those who did not expect anything, but just relaxed and enjoyed every minute of the film. When I watched this for the first time, I didn't see it coming .  I just kind of guessed it when Dylan and Thaddeus were talking at a place Thaddeus did not imagine he was going to be. There were hints, I believe, but... I have seen this film I think about four(4) times, more or less and for one reason or another, it's not the il...

Catching Fire (Movie version) 2013

Image
note to parents with little kids: Please don't bring your toddlers or young kids.  Even with your guidance, this is NOT a movie that toddlers or younger kids should see. source We bought tickets a day ahead(Wednesday, 20 November 2013).  On the day itself. Cinema 1 was filled to the brim.  Dad and I were waiting for this sequel since last year.  Like in 2012, it was supposed to be our Father-Daughter date, but mom tagged along this time.  Last year she said she could not fathom why people would enjoy watching a movie where the rich treated the poor people like animals and had fun watching these animals  kill one another, just like in olden times when people enjoyed seeing gladiators killing themselves.  "Mom, don't judge  the story that way..." So there.  She met  Katniss, Peeta, Prim, Gale et al for the first time.  She was so involved in the story that she even hated  President Snow. When p...
