The Story of Us (2019)

Image
Directed by Scott Smith Story by Deborah Jones Teleplay by Tracy Andreen Not a lot of people would agree with me, but TRACY ANDREEN made an old story look interesting.  I had a good feeling when the movie ended, so why should I say otherwise?  People were kind to MAGGIE LAWSON, but people were mean to SAM PAGE. Why?   They don't see chemistry?  Well, I do. Maybe it's not as lovey-dovey like the other stories or as mushy, but this time I welcomed the gradual process of getting back together after being separated for a long time, like PRINCESS BRIDE , and PERSUASION , two books that talked about in this movie. Yes, the story is formulaic.  I know, I know, I get tired of the same old story too, but it's sort of different.   Come on. When we watch movies, as long as they are not plagiarised, don't we sometimes say, "Did someone research about me?" So you check the name of the author, but you don't know him or her from Adam. I like...

Royal New Year's Eve (2017)

Image
The movie Directed by MONIKA MITCHELL Costume Design by CLAUDIA DA PONTE Both images are from imdb  (if I reviewed it there, I would give this 6/10...not too high, but definitely not low...for me, Jessy and Sam have good chemistry...and I reminded myself that his Kingdom is a fictitious one, so Jeff's accent is "fictitious" or invented...because of this, everything below won't be about the acting) The villainess here is played by Ms. CHERYL LADD , the Head Honcho of Appliqué Magazine, and the protagonist's boss. This is sort of a Cinderella story, except that there's no evil stepmother and there are no ugly stepsisters. There's a dream stealer(Ms. Ladd) who is like Disney's Maleficent(the animated version, not the one Angelina Jolie played), a current titled girlfriend( HAYLEY SALES ), a bodyguard best friend( ANDREW KAVADAS ), a fairy godmother type of best friend( CRYSTAL BALINT ), a down-to-earth very handsome Prince( SAMUEL PA...

All Things Valentine(2016)

Image
Avery(SARAH RAFFERTY), a blogger with a string of disappointing Valentine's Days, is ready to give up on love when she meets handsome veterinarian Brendan(SAM PAGE). When Avery finds out Brendan blames his recent break up on her blog and is the one leaving her angry comments, she begins to question whether the bond they've began to build is a true love story or yesterday's news. Written by Hallmark ALL THINGS VALENTINE Directed by GARY HARVEY Written by J. B. White What do I love about this movie?  Besides the two lead characters who are VERY believable, I like that it is not very mushy. The issues here are very real, and besides the last boyfriend of Avery who cheated on her the past year with an older woman, there's no real antagonist.   KIMBERLEY SUSTAD brought to life McKenna, and through her I saw that McKenna is not a person to be hated.  She's a good friend to Prue(HILARY JARDINE), a person who is so afraid to give her heart away, espec...

The Perfect Christmas Present (2017) a.k.a. Mr. Christmas

Image
Tom Jacobs has built a business around helping clients find the perfect gift for their loved ones. When he's hired to find a gift for his friend's girlfriend, he finds himself in a bit of trouble as the more he researches her, the more he likes her. Director:  Blair Hayes Writer: Blaine Chiapetta Feel free to wipe the smile off my face for I still have a hangover. To say this is the best Christmas romantic love story ever might be an exaggeration of sorts, but it is definitely one of the best. There are no real antagonists here, and even if I know that this story is about Tom(Samuel Page) and Jenny(Tara Holt), there were many things that I didn't expect to happen or I guessed it wrongly. I did guess some of the other things that happened in the movie right, but it didn't take the excitement away. Samuel Page and Tara Holt look so good together on screen.  The chemistry cannot be denied, and they both act naturally. They are beautiful toget...
