Miss Granny (2014)/Miss Granny (2018)

Image
An elderly woman (Na Moon Hee) regains her youthful appearance, changes her name and embarks on a quest for happiness. Director :  Hwang Dong-hyuk Featured song :  Raindrop Revised Romanization :  Susanghan gunyeo Adaptations :  Sweet 20  (2017),  Sweet 20  (2015),  Miss Granny  (2018) Writers(from imdb ): Dong-ik Shin Yoon-jeong Hong Hee-seon Dong Dong-hyuk Hwang ... (adaptation) Miss Granny 2014 The Filipino version is almost exactly the same as the South Korean version.  The songs are different, the fruits are different, but it is practically the same.  It's like watching the same musical two different nights, the same script, but with different actors. Both are equally beautiful.  Of course, nothing beats the original, but the Filipino version adds a little Filipino touch to the story.  There are many montages, and instead of a Fomentation House a...

Never Not Love You (2018)

Image
( source ) NEVER NOT LOVE YOU is a very realistic movie that proves that "team REAL" has very good onscreen chemistry .   The thing is, James Reid is a better actor than Nadine Lustre and it's a great thing that they are not competing against each other.   The couple really work well with one another, it's just that James became Gio Smith, whereas Nadine was still Nadine.  She can act, she's beautiful, toned, and one of my favourites, but in this movie, we saw how James has grown as an actor.  He definitely has honed his craft. From the immature spoiled brat of twenty-three up to his oldest age in the movie, his character buildup was justified.  Whereas Nadine's Joanne looked cold or stoic most of the time, except when she was happily in love or when she was crying.  Wait, maybe that was how her character should be...well,  I don't know.   The "ending" was quite unfair to James's character disappointing us a bit and ma...

Para sa Hopeless Romantic (2015)

Image
From Wikipedia This is a poster for  Para sa Hopeless Romantic . The poster art copyright is believed to belong to  Viva Films  and  Star Cinema . Also from Wikipedia:  Becca (Nadine Lustre) thought that she had everything she could wish for in her life, until Nikko (James Reid) broke up with her. Everything in her life starts to fall apart. To recover, she started writing a story about Ryan (Inigo Pascual), a boy who harbors a secret crush on his best friend Maria (Julia Barretto). But before he can tell her his real feelings for her, he got into an accident and fell into a coma. Can all four of them find the "happy ending" that each one of them has been hoping for? A realistic, but feel good movie that proves JaDine has what it takes to be serious actors and not just a " pa-cute " love team. The two jell and their onscreen tandem is one of the most electrifying pairs there is. The story written by Marcelo Santos III is perfect for ...

TALK BACK AND YOU'RE DEAD (2014) #TBYD

Image
Alabang Town Center Cinema 4 Facebook Page Talk Back And You're Dead is the first installment of the Talk Back Trilogy of  Alesana Marie  originally published in WATTPAD, but can now be bought at any of the National Bookstore or Power Books Branches Nationwide.  It revolves around childhood sweethearts Timmy and Sammy, their friends, family and other people close to them. Although it is also a movie about school gangsters, it is very, very different from SHE'S DATING A GANGSTER .  For me, this story is very reminiscent of the kind of movies Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion did during their teenage years, most especially the ones produced by Viva Films, but different. The helicopters, the large estates, rich feuding families, fixed marriages, etc.   The movie version is written by Keiko Aquino and directed by Andoy Ranay ( Trophy Wife ).  I think I am getting fond of this team.  People still found flaws, but hey.  ...

Diary ng Panget (Movie, PG) 2014 #DNP

Image
https://www.facebook.com/DiaryNgPangetMovie2014 THE TRAILER We did not have plans of watching this film.  Yes, we weren't looking forward to it.  We did not even know that versatile performers like Candy Pangilian, Mitch Valdez and Gabby Concepcion were included in the supporting cast.  It just so happened that my parents are senior citizens of the City of Parañaque and were a little bored yesterday afternoon.  It was a Tuesday and they could avail of any of the "free for seniors" movie in any SM Cinema in the  City of Parañaque (Bicutan, Sucat and SM City BF  Parañaque). They've seen everything so they were forced to watch DIARY NG PANGET.  I, of course, did not mind. While the credits were shown, I saw the names of aforementioned actors, Andoy Ranay(a very respectable director) and Tara Illenberger(someone I admire greatly for her work).   "Dada, respectable people are behind this film. Don't worry. Who knows? You mi...
