This movie is giving me a hangover, but not the one that gives a headache. It gives me a giddy feeling inside.Morality aside, because the characters of this story have different values, the love of Regan feels for Claire is true.
When I first saw the title of this Novel turned into a TV movie, I thought the movie was set in Africa and the leading lady was working from De Beers or something, but when the movie started and saw that it was set in California, I then knew that I was mistaken.
Diana Palmer was one of the authors my maternal grandmother loved to read. She had tomes of Mills and Boons, Silhouette Romance, and of course Harlequin Romance Novels. Honestly, I haven't come across DIAMOND GIRL before, but as I can see the difference of descriptions of the book and the movie, I can safely surmise that there would be some differences in the Novel and the movie, but the main love story of Regan and Claire/Regan and Kenna is similar, if not the same.
Even if Regan started as an obnoxious one, when he saw how intelligent and efficient Claire is as his brother's paralegal, he gave Claire a second look, and realised that she was indeed a diamond in the rough.
The attraction between the two of them is quite obvious. One is in denial, stating that it's only business. The other one is confused, because the one in denial is acting as if...
Anyways, there were scenes there that made Claire seem like an easy girl, especially when she was in Denny's place, but she was saved by the bell...the doorbell, that is. (Hope this isn't a spoiler)
The truth is, Claire is not an easy girl at all. She may have had a crush on her boss of four years who overlooked her for the longest time, but when Regan entered the scene, he rocked her world, making her knees weak.
This story reminds me so much of SABRINA and the Larrabee brothers, except that Claire here is not the Chauffeur's daughter, and she did not come from Paris after a long time. It also has some tinges of PRETTY WOMAN, SHE'S ALL THAT, and some other movies of a similar theme, but this has some difference.
Claire is NOT an easy woman, I must reiterate. She's just so much in love.
What about Regan?
He pretends to be using her, but he was attracted to her from day one.
Wait a minute. I said that already.
Well then, I better end this blog entry now.
Thanks for your time.
