THREE WHOLESOME MOVIES: Kiss at Pine Lake (2012)/ Christmas Incorporated (2017)/Once Upon A Holiday (2015)

How do I like the three movies featured on this blog entry? I like KISS AT PINE LAKE, but not as much as CHRISTMAS INCORPORATED.  I love ONCE UPON A  HOLIDAY best.

  • Thirty year old Seattle-based Luke Garvey is a philanthropist of community and social causes, his efforts largely as the anonymous President and CEO of Zeppo Enterprises, which is managed by his best friend since childhood, Tommy Atkins. Luke's latest investment is Camp Pine Lake in northern Oregon, which he bought from his Uncle Charlie despite knowing the camp is in a state of disrepair. Luke attended the summer camp for most of his growing up life. He wants to retain the camp as is - generally a throwback earlier eras - as an homage to his childhood and a place to where kids that are like he was can make their own future memories. But he finds out from Tommy that he doesn't really have the money in liquid assets to make the necessary extensive repairs to keep the camp open. At the camp, Luke is reunited with Zoe McDowell, who attended the camp at the same time as him from ages eight to fifteen - fifteen years ago - that last year when the two started to fall for each other. Despite vowing to keep in touch, they ended up losing touch on Zoe's initiative, Luke not knowing the reason why. Many of Luke's fond memories of camp are because of Zoe. Luke believes Zoe is there representing investors who want to help keep it as a camp. However, she really represents cutthroat development firm Shoreman Leonard, who want to buy the property for a song to turn it into a high end resort. Regardless of what happens between Luke and Zoe, Luke may end of losing the camp anyway if Peter Shoreman, Zoe's boss, has his way, with a little help from the safety inspector.

There are too many stories like this one, but I must say, that I know a lot of people who had their summer love stories, parted ways with each other, then saw each other again after a loooooong time, so it's possible to have a different twist every time, even if they have common ground, so to speak.

Riley Vance is hired as personal assistant to William Young, who recently inherited his father's company. He's under pressure to close the flagship toy factory of the firm, but Riley convinces him to visit the town and evaluate the plant and people. To save the town, she must rekindle his long-dormant Christmas spirit.

My thoughts about this movie, and my gees, some were already pointed out by imdb's goof page for Christmas Incorporated: OK, Riley does not correct Amanda when she ACCIDENTALLY sees that it was a different Riley she was supposed to hire. It was THEIR mistake, and yes, she had the sin of omission by not pointing out to Amanda her mistake. I can't believe that the resume DID NOT have a photograph---hello???? What era are we in? How do you hire someone without verifying first her identity, right? Right!

I don't understand why William Young would take it out only with Riley, when she was actually HELPING the company, and not the other way around. Yes, she is at fault, but...

Well, that's the story. What do I know? After all I am only observing those things.

In any case, I still enjoyed this movie, because it does have an entertainment value and a cute love story.

‘Once Upon a Holiday’s’ Briana Evigan does an Audrey Hepburn … with a bit of an edge

#RomanHolidayWithATwist

It may or may be not a retelling of ROMAN HOLIDAY, a movie I've watched gazillion of times, just like a similar movie called NOTTING HILL, but I surely like its twist.

I like the fact that Jack Langdon is not a pushover, and he also does not have self-esteem issues like other guys who inadvertently gets involved with undercover members of the Royal Family of a certain country.  I think PAUL CAMPBELL is a very convincing Jack, and it's easy to fall for someone like him...of course, I mean Jack. ;-)

BRIANA EVIGAN, of STEP UP 2:THE STREETS, is an adjustable beauty.  She can look tough, ordinary looking, or drop dead gorgeous, depending on what the role calls for.  I believe in my heart she did Katie justice.

ONE CAMERA LOST gains a love for lifetime and more.
I believe in my heart her mom led Katie to Jack.  Katie is a bright girl, but she momentarily forgot she was in NYC so she put her camera and purse down to help an aider and abettor by taking his photograph.  Jack witnessed the whole thing, tried help her, but failed.  The rest is...

It's not a perfect movie.  It would make you think...the Kingdom sounds Bavarian, but like one of the reviewers noted, how come Katie has an American accent?  Someone said that maybe it's because it's the main language of that fictitious Realm, or maybe her mother is American.  That would work if Aunt Margaret didn't have an accent, along with the Secret Service peeps.

Notwithstanding all those goofs, it's still a very good movie, if not great.

TARA WILSON and Paul Campbell are believable as brother and sister.  There are similarities.

Paul Campbell is the one that makes this whole movie interesting.  If in another universe or galaxy Tara Wilson becomes his partner in this story, I think it could work even better.  Anyways, it's just my opinion.

I like Briana, so it's not because I dislike her.  She's a great dancer, but there's not much dancing here.  She also has good genes.  GREG EVIGAN of BJ and the Bear, My Two Dads, et cetera, is her dad.  It would have been great if her real dad played her dad in this TV movie instead of being a surrogate uncle named George.

CASEY MANDERSON plays a self-absorbed shark of a budding reporter.  He did it so well that I momentarily forgot that I like him in his other roles.

👸♕

Sadly, not everyone thinks this is a wonderful movie, but we can't force them to like it if they didn't, so it's really up to you.  Check it the movie out.  Who knows?  You might like it.
