Fairfield Road (2010)

Director: David Weaver
Writer: Tracy Rosen
Everything in Noah McManus'(Jesse Metcalfe) life is going his way. Being jaded in his current job as incumbent Boston Mayor Christine Grantt's (Maria Ricossa) Chief of Staff and head of her reelection campaign team, he has just been offered his dream job working for Senator William Hayden(Art Hindle) in Washington DC. And despite he not being able to wait to pop the question at a romantic country inn on Cape Cod as was his plan, his girlfriend Wendy Greenhill(Natalie Brown) accepts his marriage proposal, proposing something she has long pressured him to do. But all these things going right suddenly go wrong. After burning the bridges with Mayor Grantt, he learns that his new job is no more as Senator Hayden has accepted illegal campaign contributions. And he finds out that Wendy has been cheating on him, he coming to the realization that she was not truly in love with him, but in love with the prospect of being married. Feeling lost, he decides first to head to Cape Cod to the inn where he was going to propose to Wendy, where he had the jeweler send the engagement ring for pickup. It is the Landing Inn, owned and operated by Sam(Derek McGrath) and Lillian Peabody(Chick Reid), in small town Harpswell. One thing leads to another in Noah needing to stay in Harpswell. There, the residents get to know him and he them. He gets embroiled in the upcoming election of town manager, where who seems to be the leading candidate, Randall Henderson(Brandon Firla), has long worked in the development of strip malls, something he wants built on an untouched pristine piece of property in Harpswell solely to line his own pockets. Soft spoken Sam is running against Henderson solely as a voice against Randall's development proposal. Having no where else to go, Noah doesn't mind staying for now, especially as he is falling for pretty local bookstore owner Hailey Caldwell(Natalie Lisinska), who is on Sam's side in the development debate. But Noah will have to decide if Harpswell is in his long term future when his more lucrative big city past comes calling again.

Huggo's summary is enough to describe this made for TV movie without giving major spoilers so anything I see are reiterations or mere blabbering, but I'll say them anyway.

When Noah arrives at Landings Inn, he was very uncomfortable and nervous at the same time.  Noah becomes annoyingly talkative, and tells a couple of strangers his story about why he was alone that day, jitters and all.  Handsome and charismatic Jesse Metcalfe was able to convey this.  No wonder he was cast as Christopher Ewing in Dallas

The Peabody couple played by Derek McGrath and Chick Reid look believable, at least for me. Derek and Chick projected that Sam and Lillian are very loving people who care a lot for the people in Harpswell, and their surroundings.

What about Natalie Lisinska?  She's pretty, she knows how to act, and I think they look good together.

Maybe the critics don't think they are bankable enough, but hey, I'm not really a critic, so I'll say what their effect on me is.

I know sometimes I don't see the "it" factor in couples, but who am I to judge who should be together or not?  I've seen the oddest couples stay together forever.  People from the outside looking in would try to break the glass of the fish bowl, letting all the water out, killing them eventually, when all the wanted to do was to knock some sense out of them.

The rest of the story is a bit blasé and unreal, but all in all, it has some warmth to it.  I love Orloff the dog.  He's just so adorable.  I think he saved Noah's life and made viewers like me stick to the story even if it does get boring a little.
