Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Such a beautiful couple onscreen:  HENRY GOLDING and CONSTANCE WU as NICKY YOUNG and RACHEL CHU
Rachel Chu is happy to accompany her longtime boyfriend, Nick, to his best friend's wedding in Singapore. She's also surprised to learn that Nick's family is extremely wealthy and he's considered one of the country's most eligible bachelors. Thrust into the spotlight, Rachel must now contend with jealous socialites, quirky relatives and something far, far worse -- Nick's disapproving mother.-WWW (Google)

This movie is such a hit.  Normally, when we watch movies in Commercenter, whether it's a hit elsewhere or not, we don't run out of seats, even when it's a holiday.

We were relatively early for the 3:50 showing.  My brother and sister-in-law weren't so lucky at Alabang Town Center.  I think the tickets were sold out up to the last full show.  As for us, the ticket lady, Cathy, told us that there were still seats at the 6:40 and 7:10 showing.  Something like that.  We declined.

After an hour, my dad changed his mind.  It was almost 5:00 PM anyway, and we were going to have an early dinner at A-Won, so he told me to get those tickets Cathy was offering us, and he and mom would just present themselves to get their tickets before the movie started.  There were only three tickets left, that is, if we wanted to sit together.  There were about eight or so tickets for solo viewers, so I think he changed his mind on time. Thank goodness!

When it was time to claim our tickets after dinner even the last full show was almost filled to the brim.

CRAZY RICH ASIANS, the movie.

Wow!  I still have a hangover, and I wouldn't mind watching this again and again and again.

I am not certain if this is going to be trilogy, but this is the first installment, and there's at least one sequel.  The next one would focus on Astrid(GEMMA CHAN).  She deserves stellar attention.  She had...has the best lines.

I love the script of the movie. The creative integration is very admirable.  The mah jong society players were tickled pink by the mah jong scene.

The actors chosen were so apt for the role.  HENRY GOLDING is so handsome and sexy.  I can't believe this is his first role as an actor ever.  He is known for being a travel show host. CONSTANCE WU is so beautiful and alluring.  Between the two of them, she's the one with lots of movies, but I think this is her biggest break ever.  They are so good to watch on screen.  They are so perfect for their roles.  They are very believable too.

MICHELLE YEOH has a commanding screen presence in any role she plays.  My favourite part is the part where those people manning the front desk or the concierge were shooing them away when they were clearly booked for the Lancaster Suite.  Those stupid people looking down on Asians like that.  It was already 1995.  What era did they think they were in?  Argh!  I could...wait, that's not such a good thing to think about.  I am just glad they got their just deserts.  Eleanor was very calm, and I loved how Michelle Yeoh smirked at them without making a scene.

AWKWAFINA is Goh Peik Lin, Rachel's best friend during their uni days.  She is relatively rich than most Singaporeans, but not as rich as the Young family and their ilk.  She's funny and savvy.

NICO SANTOS is perfect as Oliver T'sien, Nick's second cousin.  He is one of the many kababayans in this movie.  I love the way he depicted Ollie.  He helped Peik Lin give Rachel a makeover to fight his (and the many other people who couldn't fight back) fight.

CARMEN SOO is Francesca Shaw, the daughter of one of Eleanor's cronies. Her role might be small to others eyes, but to be in what they described as the Asian Avengers, it's still pretty important.

KRIS AQUINO plays a Malaysian Princess named Intan.  She has about ten minutes of exposure here.

For the rest of the very important cast members(because everyone is important) please click this for a more thorough description. I also pasted below the Wikipedia descriptions.

When I was in Singapore my host there told me when I said that the poor didn't mingle with the rich much, she said Singapore is a fair country.  That the poor, the middle class, the rich and the crazy rich have equal opportunities.  After reading Kevin Kwan's masterpiece,  I guess she was mistaken.

If you haven't watched this movie yet, please do so.  It's not just a love story. It's definitely way more than that.

Thanks a bunch for your time.  All the best!
