Some reviewers think this is more of a New Age film than science fiction. It is metaphysical, astrological, and gnostic at the same time.
What do I think?
I can't help it. I agree with them. It is indeed all those things, but I chose to go beyond beliefs and just enjoyed it as a movie, and not something that would change my faith or whatever else connected to it.
I can't help but think of Dan Brown's book, The Lost Symbol, and its dealing with the mind.
Here, Dr. Alex Murphy(CHRIS PINE) talked about the universe being within us...that we could travel the whole universe just by using our mind.
It is really a very scary subject matter, and no wonder people do not want their children to see this, especially if they are easily swayed...if you are easily swayed.
Still, if you look at this as a FANTASY, then maybe, just maybe, you may be able to enjoy this. In fairy tales there are goblins, trolls(not the cute type, but the scary ones), ogres, and so much more, that would even make the boogeyman cry uncle!
The visual effects are great, and so is the acting, especially DERIC MCCABE's take on Charles Wallace, but for those who read the book, it lacks the magic little boys and girls loved about the story.
