After the success of Crazy Rich Asians, the local distributors decided to market it as a Henry Golding film, and my golly, it worked.  It got us interested.

As mentioned above, the script was intellectually written, as well as funny and exciting at the same time.

My dad had a problem with taboo subjects being too normal in the film.

I reasoned that it wasn't so.  There was remorse and if it were normal, the secrets wouldn't be secrets at all.

It is also well acted.  The kids, most especially IAN HO and JOSHUA SATINE,  are admirable...except for the oopsy/oopsie words and the fights---wait a moment, acting wise, they are terrific, and that's what we're talking about.  The rest of the cast are good too.  They all did their parts well.

BLAKE LIVELY was extra beautiful and glamorous here.  HENRY GOLDING was of course still very sexy here.

ANNA KENDRICK, I think, is perfect for her role.

Let's not forget LINDA CARDELLINI.  Her role was short, but...well, sweet is not the word.

Yes, morality wise this is not a very laudable film, but it has its merits.

I particularly enjoyed the background music, the dark comedy(oh my, how could I admit this?), the sartorial elegance, most especially Blake Lively's sense of fashion, et cetera, et cetera.

The reviews are mixed, by the way, and  I guess I have nothing more to say.  I'll just add some links below:

What did I feel about the ending of MEANT TO BE? (GMA 7)---plus some thoughts about Encatadia and DTBY

Barbie and Her "Kens" (A Dollywood Title) #TeamYuan #KenBie My bubble was burst when the last scene after the credits was shown.  JEYA (Jai, Ethan, Yuan and Andoy) just woke up from a heavy night and they were wondering what happened then in big bold letters this was shown on the TV screen:  Ano nga ba? SOON! Ngarks. I was already very happy that BARBIE (Forteza as Billie Bendiola) and KEN (Chan as Yuan Lee or Lee Yuan) ended up together.  I even shouted it out via FB(viewed by Friends of Friends) then as I was enjoying the after credits scenes, the very last one was that messy pool scene. Everything was just a dream! Come on! I know it's fiction, but to play with our emotions like that?  That is such BS.
