Searching (2018)

From Google search:
After David Kim (John Cho)'s 16-year-old daughter goes missing, a local investigation is opened and a detective is assigned to the case. But 37 hours later and without a single lead, David decides to search the one place no one has looked yet, where all secrets are kept today: his daughter's laptop. In a hyper-modern thriller told via the technology devices we use every day to communicate, David must trace his daughter's digital footprints before she disappears forever.

Without seeing a single trailer or TV ad, we watched this movie.  Why?  It was because dad didn't want to watch The House with a Clock in Its Walls(THWACIIW).  It was showing fifteen minutes after the screening time of THWACIIW and the premise seemed interesting.

Things like this one is too close to home and it gives me the shudders.  If there were another movie that I would like to watch, and I haven't seen, that was available for viewing like On Your Wedding Day,  then I wouldn't watch this.  Thankfully, I humoured my dad by joining him and my mom, or else I wouldn't know that this is a wonderful, compelling movie.

Yes, it still shows the dangers of technology, but it is also shows how useful technology is.  There's a balance.

DEBRA MESSING showed her versatility here.  Although I'm used to seeing her in comedic roles, I have seen her in serious ones too, but in my opinion, this is her best so far.  She acted so well.

JOHN CHO has always been one of my favourites.  He too is very versatile.  I felt every emotion he was feeling.

JOSEPH LEE is also very good here as Uncle Peter.

MICHELLE LA is a revelation to me.  She's good.

All the bit players/supporting characters did well.  This is a movie one shouldn't miss to see.  It shows the hype of the Internet and like what I said above, it also shows the usefulness of the Internet and other means of technology.  It also reminds us not to jump into conclusions and so much more.

Let's all be careful.  This is a very dangerous world we live in.

Dad said maybe it was worse before and we are only learning about it now because of the power of connectivity.

Still, and yes, I am talking about real life, let's do our best to keep this world safe for future generations.

Well, I guess that's all I have to safe.

Thanks a lot for your time.
