The movie has a different approach and there are characters in the book that aren't in the movie(like the stepchildren of Stella) and situations (Mark had a vasectomy in the book and he's the one who gave Stella the cute little dog in lieu of a baby---major difference---in the movie, it's Stella who doesn't want a baby and Mark is the one who wants her to have one...and he hates dogs), et cetera, et cetera, but I love them both.
These are my thoughts: The book has a great style and you would want to finish it in one sitting. Yes, that's how much a great story it is. It is narrated through different points of views, and of course, if you enjoyed it, you would tend to visualise everything on how each character would look like, their triumphs, their tears, and everything else.
When I watched the movie, I watched it like it was the first time I was learning about it. I met each character for the first time, and I had a grand time.
I felt every emotion, and I even understood NAOMI JUDD's antics as Renée. She was just scared of being alone because she felt her only son, David(RYAN KENNEDY), married an enemy named Erin(DANIELLE PANABAKER).
I also understood Casey's(JESSICA PARKER KENNEDY) being insecure of the beautiful Anna(CHRISTIE LAING) who used to bully her to the extent of torturing her in high school. Nick(TRAVIS MILNE) was not helping in any way because it looked like he was enthralled with Anna.
There was a person I didn't understand and I wanted throttle his neck. I couldn't get STEVE BACIC's character named Mark. He's such a misogynistic person. Imagine, he stood in the way of Stella's(BRITT IRVIN) dreams. That's not right!
Oh, and you've gotta adore Puffy the Puppy. He's a little naughty, but he's so lovable.
I know, I know, not everyone loved the adaptation. The story's too old, et cetera, et cetera, but I love it, OK?
The hurdles with the marriage certificates were blessings in disguise.
Will they find love elsewhere, or will their love for their current partners go stronger or...???

I guess that's all I'm going to say.
Thanks for your time.
