Goyo, Ang Batang Heneral (2018)

11 Things You Never Knew About Gregorio Del Pilar

The movie JERROLD TAROG directed is really an epic film with 75% facts and 25% fiction.  Well, I don't know how accurate that is, but just as it is stated at the start of the film, it is filled historical facts mixed with fiction for a narrative purpose.  Something like that.

Besides the main stars, and it being a fundraiser, we were also excited to see this film, because of these two reasons:

1) My nephew, Vinni Misa, was in it(He was one of the American soldiers.);

and

2) We have a painting at home of the Battle of Tirad Pass at home

As photographed by my then four-year-old nephew(he's eleven now)
The Battle of Tirad pass by Col. Ramon Mendoza, 1977

This is indeed a beautiful narrative based on researched facts mixed with some fictitious characters and fictitious scenes.  My family believes that it's somehow unfair to President Aguinaldo,  but MON CONFIADO acted so well that we almost believed it ourselves.  We just had to breathe in and breathe out.

There were shaky scenes during the start of the movie, but I don't know if that's done on purpose so it would seem like it's cinéma vérité.  After all, it's a biopic.

The actors who were carefully chosen delivered, and EPY QUIZON gave justice to the Sublime Paralytic, Apolinario Mabini.

I have a feeling that the third installment would focus on Manuel Luis Quezon, the Philippine Commonwealth President, and the second President.  BENJAMIN ALVES is believable as the conflicted, but determined and admirable person that he was.

I won't do a roll call of everyone anymore.  Just check the list below.

Kudos to everyone involved in this film.

Congratulations to UP Rural High School Class of 1994 for two successful fundraisers.
