Maleficent (2014)

Image
http://www.shesaved.com Disney is on a roll.  They have retold stories in much better ways.  The stories were revamped for our times and truly, there is goodness in everyone, even in the most mundane person.  No one was born evil, but... Anyways, let's not go there. MALEFICENT did not start as a bad person.  The narrator(if you are very keen, you would know whose version this story is) seems to know her very well.  She recounted her story from her childhood and how she turned that way.   The story is fair to the villainess. I love the scenes, the graphics and needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, the story. I never expected to like it this much.  Well, I know not everyone would agree with me.   Do I think the G rating is correct? No. I think it should have been rated PG.  There were a lot of scenes that scared the children. Anyways, what's done is done.   Oh, and by the way, it's NOT as golden as FROZEN, but it's still magnificent!

Only You (1994)

A childhood incident has convinced Faith Corvatch (Marisa Tomei) that her true love is a guy named "Damon Bradley," but she has yet to meet him. Preparing to settle down and marry a foot doctor, Faith impulsively flies to Venice when it seems that she may be able to finally encounter the man of her dreams. Instead, she meets the charming Peter Wright (Robert Downey Jr.). But can they fall in love if she still believes that she is intended to be with someone else? Cassius: "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves, that we are underlings." Julius Caesar (I, ii, 140-141) This is another film that I don't get tired watching.  Yes, maybe it's not critically acclaimed(mixed reviews) or anything to that effect, but it's a movie that pulls heartstrings and makes you smile.  It's more than a movie about fate or its twists, it's also a movie about decisions and true love. Only You  is a 1994 American  romantic come

X-men: Days of Future Past (2014)

Finally, the long wait is over. We were able to watch X-Men: Days of Future Past. This connects X-Men: THE LAST STAND and X-Men FIRST CLASS to a brand new dimension.  The story was beautifully weaved and the acting was very convincing.  The special effects was stupendous.  If ever there were goofs, only the super keen would notice them. Reviews?   Thoughts on Eric's power, Raven's rage, Wolverine's awesomeness, Beast's strength, et cetera?   Well,  I'll leave them to the experts.  All I know is that I enjoyed watching this very much and I wouldn't mind watching it again. ;-)   There's just one complaint from the three of us that watched this at the same time.  We were all dizzy when the movie was over.   Oh well, we were so into it! ;-) Forbes Thought Of The Day “  We are rich only through what we give: and poor only through what we refuse and keep. ” — Anne Swetchine FORBES REVIEW: 'X-MEN: DAYS

If the Shoe Fits (1990)

The movie  (changed the original link in 2018) Directed by Tom Clegg Written by  Timothy Prager and Madeline Di Maggio & Pamela Wallace (a.k.a.  Dianne King, Pamela Simpson ) This is about a woman, her dream job, her snobbish prince charming, a modern-day fairy godmother, and a magical pair of shoes.  It is, as the title implies, a modern day Cinderella Story, but there's more to it than that.  It is also a "Super Woman" story.  Kelly Carter wears glasses, but as Prudence...  J/K It's not the best story and there are far better updates and remakes of Cinderella, but this movie is close to my heart. Who am I kidding? ROB LOWE 's being in this movie is sufficient enough. ;-)  This movie was filmed after Dirty Dancing was shown, so I was hoping JENNIFER GREY's transformation would be breathtaking, but it wasn't. "They" weren't so fair to her(hair and makeup artists or anyone who was in charge of her transformatio

The Lonely Lady (1983)

The Movie  Watching this movie in my early teens sort of gave me a nightmare.  I liked Pia Zadora as a singer, but physically, I did not really find her that  beautiful, so I was not really interested in any movie that she was in.  Men seemed to think otherwise, so I guess I got curious.  I guess you can say that this genre was introduced to me earlier than it was supposed to. I've seen worse films(things kids weren't supposed to see), but somehow, since this had a story  and subplots, this affected  my young mind more.  Thank goodness the ending was a bit victorious.  I don't remember which came first.  My addiction for Harold Robbins novels or this one.  Probably this one.  I think I watched this first then got interested if it was better as a book or a movie.  If it was better as a movie, " Houston, we've got a problem!" Yes, even if I still had cheap thrills reading Sweet Valley High, Sweet Dreams and Scholastic Novels for Young Adults, I

Ghost World (2001)

source Seymour and Enid Thora Birch is someone I've seen grown up, at least via the boob tube/idiot box and the silver screen.  She is one of the greatest and most versatile actors and I admire her a lot.  It's a pity I don't get to see her much anymore because of certain controversies.  No, she did not become a wayward daughter  or anything of that sort, but...Anyways, she is still around.  I hope she would get more projects.  May the people involved realize that they need the likes of her and overlook the controversies.   Anyways, when I learned she was paired with Steve Buscemi in this movie, my wildest imagination could not fathom how they could have onscreen chemistry, at the very least.  Steve Buscemi is a very respectable actor, but I couldn't picture him being paired with Thora Birch. When I started watching this film, I brushed the fact that she was Thora and he was Steve.  I immersed myself in the story and became a bystander in Enid an
