ROBOCOP (PG) 2014
RoboCop
No one should play god, no matter how good their intentions are. After all, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
This year's RoboCop has a bunch of god-wannabes. There's Raymond Sellars(Keaton), a self-centered person whose primary goal is to be richer than he already is. He does not care if he steps on other people's toes or even kill people, as long as his reputation would gain accolades from all sectors in society, most especially the people of the US of A.
Reluctantly, there's Doctor Dennet Norton(Oldman). He has a good heart, but somehow his mind was clouded with the belief that he was doing the right thing. He manipulated Alex Murphy's brain.
Maddox/Mattox(Haley), a trigger-happy military tactician. I'm sorry, but I was so happy when Alex tased him.
There are others, but I might just give the story away.
It's somehow far from the original story so if you've watched the 1987 version and its sequels, you would still get surprised by certain scenes.
Alex's wife in the three earlier RoboCops was named Ellen. This year, she's called Clara. Clara's love for Alex and vice-versa is very admirable. I felt her frustration, her tension and her need to fight for the love of her life.
David, Alex and Clara Murphy
(John Paul Ruttan, Joel Kinnaman and Abbie Cornish)
IS THE MOVIE SAFE FOR KIDS?
As long as you're with them and would be ready to answer their questions, why not? There are lots of things to learn here too, but it's too violent in my opinion. Some kids might be traumatized.
There are also some romantic scenes, but just a few.
The cuss words were bleeped.
Gary Oldman-my favorite character
Samuel L. Jackson as Pat Novak---someone you would love to hate in this movie(he was so convincing)
Jackie Earl Haley
Michael Keaton
