Scene inside the elevator before watching
Pacific Rim Uprising:
Guy 1:  Are you sure it's not patterned after Transformers?
Guy 2: Definitely.  It has its own identity.

So everyone in the elevator was off to see this movie and they were all excited.  We were about four groups three and amazingly, there were others ahead of us.  It was the first full feature(of the day) and it was a weekday, and for such a day, even if the theatre was not full, we were quite a number for that particular theatre we were in(there were two theatres showing the movie at the Central Square).

Common Sense Media's Review by Jeffrey M. Anderson
The movie as a whole is pretty exciting and well thought of.  It centres on Jake Pentecost (John Boyega) and Amara Namani(Cailee Spaeny) with powerful supporting characters in Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Jing Tian/Tian Jing, Scott Eastwood and others who did equally well.

The scenes are believable and realistic.  We were observing dad if he was bored or something, but he was enjoying everything.  He was even smiling when the movie was through, but when we asked him if he enjoyed it on our way home, he said, "No.  There's no story at all."  "What?" "That's my opinion." "That's not true..."

Hmm...I think he was just pulling our legs or being contrapelo or something.

Five years ago, when we watched Pacific Rim we did not even expect to like it, but we did...we still do.  I am just glad that its sequel did not disappoint and it's making me excited to see more sequels in the future.

I think I'll just leave the rest of the opinions to the experts and not all of them share mine(or I don't agree with all of them):
