Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita (A Film By Lino Brocka) 1989 and The GMA 7 Sine Novela (Directed by Joel Lamangan) 2008

One of my favourite movies of all time is BABANGON AKO'T DUDURUGIN KITA...almost all Lino Brocka films, for me, are classics and worth watching.

Revenge may sound sweet to those who have the means to destroy the lives of those who ruined theirs in the past, but in the end, you would realise that it is just a vicious cycle.  If you do win in the end, would you really feel like a winner?

This is one of my favourite Bembol Roco films, and I think this is also one of the best Sharon Cuneta has ever starred in.

I think besides the horror of politics and scandalous relationships, I think that one of the lessons of this movie is that we should never treat anyone we love as gods and make them our world because it would eventually destroy us.  Another lesson is that crime does not pay.

Ruben Rustia, who plays Salve's dad, made us feel his displaced love for his daughter.  He had all the good intentions for his daughter, but his heart got broken into pieces because he felt he was the cause of all the bad things that happened to his beloved daughter.

William Lorenzo, who was one of the award-winning director's favourites, played a very vital role here.  He was used to do something evil. He did his role well.

Hilda Koronel played the very hateful vixen here called Via.  I guess Salve was too subservient for Alfred(Christopher De Leon)'s taste that's why when a beautiful woman of the world got more than interested in him, he didn't just take the bait, he actually swallowed the whole can of worms...hmm...well, I think you know what I mean.  I hope I am right.

Some people want the attention Salve is gave Alfred, but Alfred hated it.  Thankfully, after all the trials Salve underwent, she met Rod(Bembol Roco), who helped her with her revenge plots.

In 2008, this became a GMA 7 Sine Novela starring Yasmien Kurdi as Salve, Marvin Agustin as Alfred, Angelika Dela Cruz as Via, and JC De Vera as Rod.  Salve in the Sine Novela version was an unassuming heiress that was deprived of her inheritance, changing Gilda Olvidado's original story that was originally a series published in Philippine comics that became a live action movie produced by Viva Films(the aforementioned movie).  To lengthen the story, they added subplots.  The Sine Novela was directed by Joel Lamangan and Ms. Dina Bonnevie had a special participation "there"(the role of Mona Lisa in the movie---well, something like that).  It also stars Patrick Garcia, Tonton Gutierrez, Diana Zubiri, Paolo Contis, Dion Ignacio and Glydel Mercado.

Of course, I like the movie better, but the Sine Novela was also beautiful and exciting, and offered something interesting that could be considered original.

Both the movie and the series are worth watching.

That's my two cents worth.

Thanks for reading.
