CINDERELLA (1997)
WHITNEY HOUSTON dreamt of being Cinderella, and actually wanted the role for herself, but she felt that she was too old for the role, so she got BRANDY to play it.  When I watched it for the first time, I did not question the facts of this version.  I liked that people could look so different, but still be part of one family(so like my own family tree).  The songs were beautifully sung, and there was great chemistry between PAOLO MONTALBAN and Brandy.  Speaking of Paolo, he's Asian, and the role of his parents went to WHOOPI GOLDBERG and VICTOR GARBER.  Ergo, the world they live in is almost perfect, except for a few like the evil Stepmother played by BERNADETTE PETERS and her silly stepsisters played by NATALIE DESELLE and VEANNE COX.  Also in this movie is JASON ALEXANDER as Prince Christopher's confidante, and all around right hand man of the King and Queen, Lionel.

The way they look past race and colour of the skin is simply magical.

The reimagining of a real life story of Alexander HAMILTON and everyone around him:

'Hamilton' gets past race by imagining Founding Fathers with black and brown faces

When I first learned about this musical I was confused because I have been studying about Aaron Burr, Thomas Jefferson, and of course, while doing so, Alexander Hamilton's name would appear here and there.

Later on, after researching(which included reading about the musical and its composer, LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA), I understood that it was a reimagining...a "What if" kind of musical, like The Equalizer and other movies...yes, even A Wrinkle in Time.

It's easier when the story is fiction, but when it's about real people, boy, oh boy, it's hard to come to terms with...

Then I remembered the 1997 version of Cinderella, and that's why I'm writing about these two beautiful musicals together.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius.  To be honest, my favourite among his compositions can be heard in the animated musical of a large body of water: MOANA.  Well, that's what the Princess's name means.  Moana is the sea.  Moana is the ocean.

I love the soundtrack of Hamilton too, of course, but not as much as Moana.  Well, that's just me.

The point of this blog entry is that we are all children of the universe(not everyone believes in God, so it's unfair to call them such, even if in reality we all are His kids), and we all have the right to be in this earth.  We should really go past the skin colour.

Based on the writing of RON CHERNOW, Lin-Manuel was able to let us peek into an alternate universe, and convinced us that it is real.

One day, hopefully in our lifetime, we could experience the type of world where race and gender shouldn't be an issue.
