RAMA HARI (Reyes-Cayabyab-Lumbera)

Image
Before the performance For a has-been that never was a Prima Ballerina, a mezzo-soprano that never became a diva, and a thespian that is in a seemingly endless hiatus, being a part of the audience of the 7th of December 2012 production of RAMA HARI was sort of a NIRVANA. During the intermission The RAMAYANA Myth or Legend has always fascinated my feeble mind. The "after world" had always this connection with the "present world". Their spirits/avatars and their incarnations or re-incarnated humans have this "solid connection. I am a CHRISTIAN, but this epic made me read Bhagavad Gita  literature. I have seen these productions: Ramaya: The Epic(2010) Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama (1998 Japanese version) Rama Hari 1983 production With Ms. Jacqui Magno and Mr. Ric Segretto I would have loved to see how Ms. Kuh Ledesma, who incidentally was also born on the 16th of March, would have portrayed the role of Sita, but I would have ...

SAFE, a film by Boaz Yakin, starring Jason Statham

Image
( source ) Introduction: Jason Statham(JS) was one of the favorite actors of my baby brother, RJ , who is now in heaven. I remember one time I already bought tickets for a certain movie, but we had to wait an hour for our turn. After buying hot dogs from his favorite stall in Glorietta 4(Smokey's), I took his hand so that we could walk around Ayala Center first.  He didn't like it.  He did what I "hated" the most.  He wailed like a baby.  He wanted to watch a movie right that very moment. Most of the movies had guaranteed seating and the only one that had free seating and allowed one to enter anytime was CRANK: HIGH VOLTAGE .   He was pulling me in that direction.  I did not want to, but what can I do?   JS was his idol.  Halfheartedly, I immediately traded our tickets. He was clapping all throughout the movie, but I on the other hand, was cringing.  I like watching action films in including the ones featuring him, but it wa...

http://www.starcinema.com.ph/ Director :  Jerry Lopez Sineneng Running time :  120 minutes Screenplay :  Karen Ramos ,  Vanessa R. Valdez Story by :  Karen Ramos ,  Dang Bagas ,  Vanessa R. Valdez Before watching this movie I heard a lot people say that they couldn't imagine a person with Germanic features could be siblings with someone with Asian features.  Well, I have "news" for you. It's possible.  I know, because I belong to a family like that.  Maybe not my immediate family, but my mom's side of the family is like that. We have different features. Some look Spanish, some look like Germans, some look like Chinese and the list goes on.  Since the story was tailor-made for the new generation's Mara Clara teen stars, Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes, the casting director chose their parents to be Tonton Gutierrez and Agot Isidro.  Tonton could pass as Julia's dad and Agot could pass as ...

You to me are everything (2010)

Image
( Source ) To publish or not to publish, that is the question. Dingdong Dantes's character, Rafael Iñigo Benitez III, is one person I could relate to. Some years back my dad and his colleagues were...let's just use the term "sued"...by the Sandiganbayan...I can't speak for everyone, but it's because dad was in one of the highest positions in his work place, and he signed certain vouchers that he wasn't supposed to because in his mind, others already signed and that they were sensible people. Anyways, I can't really expound about it, but as I watched Rafael go down in the dumps, I wondered what would happen to my very loving father whom I love and respect so much. Earlier on, he could have squandered billions, but he didn't.  He could have given us the world, but he didn't.  He could have done a lot of things, but didn't have the heart to.  I know there's no big or small thing when it comes to cases like this one.  What...
