English Only, Please (2014) Jennylyn Mercado and Derek Ramsay #MMFF2014

Rappler Review by Zig Marasigan
The trailer above made me joyfully wait for this movie to be shown in the cinemas.  Yes, yes, there was a more important event coming and I haven't forgotten who the real reason for the season is, but it made me list this as the first movie to watch on Christmas Day.

Let me tell you a secret.  I was only intending to watch four movies anyway and the other three are:  BONIFACIO, KUBOT and MY BIG BOSSING.

This morning we were pretty excited to go to Alabang Town Center.  We were given movies passes yesterday and even if we knew that we weren't going to be able to use them(the expiration date was on the 31st and it was the #MMFF2014, so the odds were obviously against us), we were still psyched to see this film.

After watching the movie I was able to read the wonderful review of Zig Marasigan.  Even if I don't entirely agree with what he has written, I agree with almost everything he said.

Here are my thoughts, anyway.  I think Jennylyn and Derek are very good actors and they should have more projects together.  The co-stars are also very commendable.  Lenlen Frial was perfectly chosen as the very bright daughter of Tere's best friend as played by the versatile Cai Cortez.

Kean's role as "Chikinini Boy" is reminiscent of his role in BAKIT DI KA CRUSH NG CRUSH MO? Sometimes it makes me think that he is like that in real life, to be typecast, but maybe he just plays his role well.  The not-so-handsome guy that make ladies go gaga because he is so good in wrapping them around his fingers or he is great in...

Minus the mot-mot part and some other factors in Tere's life, I could relate to Tere's relationship with "Chikinini Boy".  I do not want to elaborate.  I'm just so happy that someone poured iced cold water on me and I am NOT talking about the ice bucket challenge, OK?

I hope you would include #EnglishOnlyPleaseMMFF2014 in the list of movies you would watch this season and I can assure you that your time won't be wasted.
