Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express (2017) PG

Image
How Faithful Is  Murder on the Orient Express  to Agatha Christie’s Classic Detective Novel? A Breakdown (warning, the link has spoilers). A lavish trip through Europe quickly unfolds into a race against time to solve a murder aboard a train. When an avalanche stops the Orient Express dead in its tracks, the world's greatest detective -- Hercule Poirot -- arrives to interrogate all passengers and search for clues before the killer can  strike again. -WWW Directed by: Kenneth Branagh Screenplay: Michael Green Music by: Patrick Doyle Distributed by: 20th Century Fox Agatha Christie is one of my favourite authors.  Miss Marple and Monsieur Poirot were part of my growing up years alongside the Stratemeyer Syndicate's  Carolyn Keene's NANCY DREW.  Murder on the Orient Express is one of the memorable ones, except some of the scenes of the book and the 1974 movie are quite hazy or I have mixed up the scenes already. Honestly, when I wa...

Trip Ubusan (The Lolas vs. Zombies) Graded A ---2017 (Parental Guidance)

Image
Archie Adamos,  Jhayvot Galang, Arthur Solinap, Lovely Abella, Angelika Dela Cruz, Taki Saito, Kenneth Medrano, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Miggy Tolentino, Shaira Mae Dela Cruz, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros and Caprice Cayetano ( source ) Writers: Raymund Navarro -   story (also known for Kapitan Awesome) Ma. Acy Q. Ramos - screenplay (also known for With A Smile, Princess in the Palace, etc.)    Mark A. Reyes V is a very versatile director.  He is able to direct movies, TV Shows, TV series or whatever else without being stuck in one genre.   Trip Ubusan is supposed to be a parody or a spoof of TRAIN TO BUSAN,  but like some of the critics or reviewers described, it's more than that. Of course, I had to see it for myself.  Would I have a different opinion or would I agree with them?   After watching it I agree with them. The movie is not just about laughs or scary zombies, it's...

Justice League (2017) Parental Guidance

Read Zack Snyder’s version   a Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. -WWW Initial release: 16 November 2017 (Denmark) Director: Zack Snyder Film series: Justice League Film Series No.  I won't lie.  I did enjoy this film and had fun watching it with my family. We like it the way it is.  If we did not know Mr. Snyder's "thoughts", we would be content with it.  Now that we know, I want to see how Zack Snyder envisioned it.  If you click the link above, there'll be spoilers, but it's interesting to note all that. A Christmas Wish (2011)

Image
A woman and her children are left homeless when her husband leaves with all their money. She gets a job as a waitress in a small town diner and discovers the kind locals are on hand to help her through the difficult times. Initial release :  13 November 2011 Written and Directed by :  Craig Clyde Initial DVD release :  6 December 2011 Music composed by :  Russ Whitelock In a nutshell:  The movie is well-acted and the message is very clear that Jesus is the reason for the season.  I just hope the ex-hubby got his just deserts.  The neighbors, including the boss and the colleague, are awesome and so are her kids. The romance could have used more buildup, but it's OK.  They have time for that because I think they, Martha and her kids, would stay in Mapleton for good.  It may be predictable and a lot of scenes seem unreal, but possible, I like it.  I also think that I would like the recipe for hom...

Loving Vincent (2017)

Image
As a young girl I have always admired this bipolar artist who was accused of being a madman by people who did not know better.  He was a real genius only appreciated posthumously. (more below) One of my favorite songs while growing up was Starry, Starry Night by Don McClean.   One of my brothers was a baby and I was practically one myself when this started becoming a hit, but I appreciated this more when I started dreaming of being a painter at the age of seven.  I was told I was a very bad artist crushing my dreams, so I really did not have penchant for creating beautiful works of art until I was in my twenties. Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something you know in your heart you can do.  Of course, sometimes it really is physically impossible, but more often than not, when people we love don't believe we could do something, we start believing it and... Anyways, Vincent Van Gogh, had a very colourful life and my parents and I were ...

Dan Brown's ORIGIN (FICTION) 2017

Image
If there is anything that changed about my thoughts about the famous author through the years, I could honestly say I respect him more.  He still does not influence my belief in God, because I cannot not believe in Him because there are many things that happened in my life that cannot be explained by science or whatever else.  Yet, I could boldly say that he is a very believable writer. Believing everything he has written as "gospel" truth  is different from saying he is a believable author. When a person is believable, what he or she is saying could be true, but you don't necessarily believe it to be so. He definitely is a raconteur extraordinaire .  I can give him that. In ORIGIN he is trying to hypnotise his readers that he is an "enlightener" and because of his writing style, he might convince a lot of people that it is so. He used William Blake's ideologies, writings, artwork etc.  By focusing on Blake, he has sort of deified  the man....
