Some of the Characters
Reboots or re-imaginations of movies or TV series normally pale in comparison to the original or predecessors, but thankfully, this 2016 series of Encantadia is steered by the same navigator or Captain of the Ship, Director Mark A. Reyes V. The series is at the very least at par with the original.
Cellphones with strong signals and long battery lives are not questioned because the time frame there is different from the time frame of the land of the mortals...in this case, The Philippines.
Mikee Quintos is awesome. She's no Jennylyn Mercado, but she gave Milagros and gives Lira a new persona that is lovable in her own right.
I don't like the dragon like creatures, but they are supposed to be hateful anyway.
Sanya Lopez is extra beautiful in this series. She was already pretty in The Half Sisters, but here, she's so sultry and strong. She has great on-screen chemistry with real life beau, Rocco Nacino.
Even if I don't know him personally, I am a proud relative of Ruru Madrid(his mom is a Misa), but I'm not certain if he's a nephew or a great nephew/grand nephew. Ergo, don't ask me to let you meet him(kasi nga di niya ako kilala sa laki ng tribo namin).
Glaiza de Castro is an effective contra vida as Pirena(even if I love the way Sunshine Dizon portrayed her better, Glaiza is doing a great job as Pirena) and Gabbi Garcia's depiction of Alena is different from Karylle's, but she's doing fine as well.
It's great to see Diana Zubiri and Sunshine Dizon in this version.
ENCANTADIA changed Filipino prime time viewership in 2005. At first a lot of people raised their eyebrows. How come the Philippine underworld or middle earth speak in Balagtasan or deep Tagalog interjected with the Enchanta Language, but their names were based in Greek Mythology or something like that?
Even so, we became hooked after some time. The special effects and the acting were almost seamless. The dialogue and the story(plus back stories) were(are) timeless.
Yes, it's a Fantaserye, but we could relate with the characters, so it "could be" real. It could "happen" in real life.
From FB and Wiki:
Enchanta. a priori language with a vocabulary influenced by Philippine languages (particularly Tagalog) and Romance languages. Enchanta /ɛnˈtʃɑːntɑː/ (Enchan /ɛnˈtʃɑːn/ in the 2016 series) is a constructed language spoken by the denizens of Encantadia, known as Encantado(s)/Encantada(s) or Diwata (fairies).
