Thor Ragnarok (2017) PG (not really a review)
Bonifacio High Street Cinemas, Central Square, BGC
Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor's quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.- WWW
In Thor 2, it was implied or established that Thor, Loki and Odin were not really gods, but a highly advanced species who likened to gods. In Thor Ragnarok they are back to being Norse gods.
This movie made all of us happy. It has two strings of after credits teasers and the script was well-written, with the best line coming from a Make-A-Wish-Kid.
We had lots of laughs(including the part where they seemingly promoted to the Filipino audience the Vice Ganda-Pia Wurtzbach-Daniel Padilla Christmas movie---LOL---I'm sure most of the moviegoers at the Bonifacio High Street Cinema do not have any idea what I'm talking about like the rest of the world, but those that do, had extra chuckles when Thor mentioned "it"), but the "special effects"/CGI or whatever you call them also gave us goosebumps. There were lots of exciting scenes, but there were scenes that made me misty-eyed.
The whole family can watch this, but since it's rated PG, be ready to be a parent or a guardian to your kids. There are scenes they couldn't handle, even if you think they are wise enough to understand because they are very advanced learners.
Great acting and a great ensemble. Of course, the actor/director, Taika Waititi, did his jobs well.
Kudos to the cast crew:
- Thor: Ragnarok review – humour lightens another load of Marvel
- Thor: Ragnarok: Jaimie Alexander explains why Lady Sif was missing
- Thor: Ragnarok Added 30 Minutes (And More Jokes) After SDCC
