Scott Turrow's Presumed Innocent (1990-film)

Image
From Rotten Tomatoes : Movie Info Rusty Sabich (Harrison Ford) is a bland, oppressed man who burns with a quiet, corrosive intensity that can flare uncontrollably. A Philadelphia prosecutor, Sabich's fire seems to have one outlet: his job. He loves prosecuting people. Otherwise, his life is dead-ended. He has a loveless marriage to a neurotic woman (Bonnie Bedelia) and an overbearing boss (Brian Dennehy) in a labyrinthine law enforcement world of corruption and twisted relationships. Then Carolyn Polhemus (Greta Scacchi) comes  into his life. Lovely and seductive, Polhemus easily entices him to break his marital vows, but she schemes to get him to try for his boss' job. When he refuses, she leaves him. When she turns up dead, the victim of an apparent rape-murder, clues begin to point to Sabich. His blood type almost perfectly matches that in the semen found in the victim, carpet fibers at the crime scene match those found in his house, and most damning, his fi...

The Fault in Our Stars #tfios (2014)

"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves, that we are underlings."- Cassius Julius Caesar (I, ii, 140-141) -William Shakespeare John Green, a genius of an author, played with the quote above. If Cassius didn't believe that things happen for a reason , John Green surely does. The story of Hazel Grace and Augustus is beautiful.  Their infinity might be smaller than others, but their love for each other is probably wider than the ocean and deeper than sea. Shailene Woodley is a natural and I can say the same for the charming Answel Elgort.  In the DIVERGENT Trilogy, they play brother and sister, but here, they are star-crossed lovers. Both roles are very convincing.  I must say that I could give them both standing ovations. I can see and feel the chemistry between them.  I would have wished that this was a happier story, but no matter how sad this story is, Augustus fear of oblivion will never happen, unless the Seco...

While You Were Sleeping (1995)

Sigh. I guess I'm just so cheesy. I'm such a sucker for this movie because I think I've seen this more than fifty times and I still get giddy and excited.  Being in love with love makes me feel like I'm high above the clouds.  Bill Pullman during his prime surely melted a lady's heart.  The story of Jack and Lucy is truly unforgettable.  Jack's family is also one of the best there is.  I can watch this over and over and over and over and over again.  It's not a thinkers' movie, OK? It's a movie that makes you light inside.  Reviews? Here are some links: Roger Ebert Amazon Customers Rotten Tomatoes From pinterest He was the just "bridge" and the reason why she met her true love I could melt if he looked at me this way I'm so glad he didn't...sigh... Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967)

Just like most of the musicals of great composers, the topic of this one is heavy(White Slavery), but it is made light because of the music and comedic lines.  It is also a movie about misconceptions and about love. The songs and dance steps are good, and the acting was, well, it was good. Probably not great, but it was good. It was written by Richard Morris and directed by George Roy Hill.  A stage version was based on this movie(a full musical) with lyrics written by Dick Scanlan and music composed by Jeanine Tesori.  The sound track of the movie was by Elmer Bernstein and his team. Pat Morita, Beatrice Lillie and Jack Soo Thank goodness, even if there are still stereotypes, the Asians are given better roles now.  The great Pat Morita and Jack Soo were given somewhat insulting roles here. John Gavin, James Fox, Beatrice Lillie, Carol Channing, Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore from imdb: Storyline In 1922 New York ...

Maybe This Time (2014)

( source ) The story and theme is one of the oldest, but I still loved it. Who cares if the story is a bit shallow? Who cares if it's super rehashed and recycled like the materials Tonio uses? Who cares if there are endorsements? Sigh. It's a feel good movie and thank goodness, it did its job.  Regarding the "story" My stand is: What's in the past should remain in the past, but when there's no closure, I think, if both of you are still free, you should, at the very least, talk...either to finally end it or to be together again. The movie was executed well.  Sarah, although still obviously very conservative(which suits her), is a little more daring here. She is a better actor and is very convincing here. Coco Martin is very natural.  The role is fit for him and his baby face charms never fails to make the ladies and the homosexuals shriek.  Some people in the movie house were shouting, "I love you so much!" Oh shucks.  ;-)...
