'Apocalypse Child'(2015) R-16 and Doctor Strange(2016) PG---non-reviews

When Ignacio de Loyola was cancelled at a certain theatre,  the lady I have spoken with said I was late by one day.  If I had inquired about it then, they wouldn't have cancelled the showing because they believe in and value the "power of one " so I hope they won't stop the reshowing of APOCALYPSE CHILD . #apocalypsechild #sidlucero #francisfordcoppola #anaabadsantos #baler #surfing Sid Lucero talks about being ‘bastos,’ exposed in new film 10 Things You Need to Know Before Seeing ‘Doctor Strange’  ( source ) ( source ) These two films are being shown side-by-side.  The former is shown at one theatre alternating with the latter, while the latter is being is shown at all the remaining theatres of the cineplexes. Is that fair? You can't blame the owners of the cineplexes.  They go where the money is, and obviously, they think Dr. Strange will "bring home the bacon". The former is a drama about a man who was made to believe

Claudia Gray's TEN THOUSAND SKIES ABOVE YOU (A Firebird Novel)

Image
Genius isn’t just intelligence, she explained to me once. It’s the ability to see further than anyone around you, to put together different concepts in a way no one else has imagined. Genius implies originality and independence. - Sophie, Marguerite's mom (Claudia Gray-- Ten Thousand Skies Above You) I judged this book by its cover.  I bought this book because of the cover and the blurb. Normally, I would regret such move, but thankfully, I did not need to. This book is a page turner.  I have always been fascinated with alternate universes and quantum leaps.  I wouldn't want it to be real, but somehow, when I do something very, very wrong, but I know quashing my life is not a solution, I would hope there was another dimension I could go to. Claudia Gray envisioned and verbalized some of my thoughts.  I thought I was not going to enjoy it because I have not even read the first installment: A THOUSAND PIECES OF YOU .  I am glad I was wrong. It was great me

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016)

Image
(Source) Investigator Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) springs into action after the arrest of Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders), an Army major accused of treason. Suspecting foul play, Jack embarks on a mission to prove that the head of his old unit is innocent. After crossing paths with the law, Reacher must now go o n the lam to uncover the truth behind a major government conspiracy that involves the death of U.S. soldiers.-World Wide Web From Danika Yarosh's IG This second Jack Reacher movie was based on Lee Child's 18th book of the Jack Reacher series. Before watching the film I was totally clueless that this was a series of books. I've seen the first movie several times on cable. Except for the Mission Impossible series and a couple of others, I haven't been so interested in watching a Tom Cruise film on the big screen ever since he broke off with Nicole Kidman and when I found out he is a Scientologist, which was unfair because I still watched John Travolta,

Inferno (2016) my two cents worth and why I am one of the few who likes the movie better

Image
Main Characters (Guess who the real villain is) This is one movie I loved better than the book...Oh, I mean Dan Brown 's Inferno and not Dante's.  David Koepp's screenplay and Ron Howard's direction made it more exciting.  I like the re-imagination of the ending because I love life and humanity.  Most of my friends do not agree.  They believe the ending "had to happen".  They hated the twist so much.  They said it ruined it.  Most of the viewers agree.  I don't.   Hats off to David Koepp and Ron Howard.  They truly made us gnash and grind our teeth and brought us to the edges of our seats. Unfortunately, Robbie Collin and others do not seem to think so. My friends even think that the "unexpected twist" was a big disappointment.  To each his own. This is MY blog, and if you don't agree with me, then just go to another page and don't waste your time by reading my two cents worth.  To me, what matters is that my bestie an

The Girl on the Train (2016) R16

‘The Girl On The Train’: 11 Important Differences Between The Bestselling Book And Its New Big Screen Adaptation   (click the link if you must, but I may as well tell you that there are lots of spoilers) THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN's trailer was very intriguing.  I have never read the book before, but I was compelled to watch this because of the teaser. The story was very interesting and I kept on guessing who the real culprit was.  In the middle of the film I made a wild guess and I was right. It was acted well by everyone, most especially the deglamorized Emily Blunt, but you cannot discount all the actors' efforts and skills.  We had a heavy feeling after the movie.  We could not decide if we liked it or not. We weighed the pros and cons and decided that it was not the best film ever, but it had a good story and subplots. Ergo, we sort of liked it.   Commuter Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) catches daily glimpses of a seemingly perfect couple, Scott and
