Unitatis Redintegratio (2nd Vatican Council Decree on Ecumenism)

Unitatis Redintegratio (2nd Vatican Council Decree on Ecumenism) Category: Books Genre: Religion & Spirituality Author: Pope Paul VI Given in Rome at St. Peter's, November 21, 1964 Unitatis Redintegratio  means restoration of unity  Pope Paul VI was the first Pope (so more or less you guys know my age already) I have ever encountered. I was blessed to be carried by him when I was a toddler.  His work, like the Evangelii Nuntiandi , an apostolic exhortation, is the very heart of PREx (Parish Renewal Experience-started in the USA by Rev. Fr. Charles Gallagher, a Jesuit priest), which I first attended in the 1990s. “We wish to confirm once more that the task of evangelizing ALL people constitutes the essential mission of the Church. It is a task and mission which the vast and profound changes of present-day society make all the more urgent. Evangelizing is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity. She exists to evang...

This, that, All about Steve(2009), and The Gift of Abundance by Pido Aguilar

First an introduction: Whew. I believe we had a very fruitful Parish Pastoral Council ExeCom meeting. Details will be spared, but I must say that everything discussed was fair. I was pleased to see that Europe was good to my friends who just came from there.  It's obvious that they enjoyed their 3 week pilgrimage.  Tiring, but fulfilling, I guess. Thank God that I've been to some of those places already, but I do miss traveling to that side of the world. Maybe after election season, who knows? Anyways, this was a fruitful day too. I helped dad with some of his work.  I'll be helping him during the weekend (tomorrow I'll try to do stuff for the VSAP's Voice newspaper maybe after visiting a friend) and hopefully this will prepare him for his trip to Davao on Monday. Please pray for traveling mercies... After lunch I brought RJ to Southmall where we watched  ALL ABOUT STEVE (more about this below) and ate at the Beraldi Coffee Kiosk. Storyline from imdb: ...

The movies I watched from September to October (2009)

Reading about Heart Evangelista's award winning acting in the Indie Film called "Ay Ayeng" made me sigh.  Shucks.  Why haven't I heard about this movie?  It bagged most of the awards so I guess it's a great film. Due to recent events, before reading about the Indie Film, I was wondering about her.  Heart's a great actress. Yes, she's an heiress and all, but she's in a class of her own.  Just as I was thinking about her, she bagged the best actress trophy and the much coveted role as Sharon Cuneta's daughter in Mano Po 6: My Mother. I guess I shouldn't "worry" about her then. ;-) The Movies I did get to see I watched this movie four times. Laugh trip!  Although there were unnecessary comments, I overlooked them because there were many, many times that the audience laughed...as in roared with laughter...they even clapped and loved every moment of it. Kudos to the cast and crew! Eugene, you deserve to have ...

And I love you so (2009)

Image
And I Love You So is a 2009 Philippine romantic fantasy drama film produced by Star Cinema, starring Bea Alonzo, Sam Milby and Derek Ramsay. This film reunites Alonzo and Milby; the previous being Close to You (2006). The film is directed by Laurenti Dyogi, and celebrates the 16th year of Star Cinema films. The film describes the feeling of forbidden love for another person when that love may not be forbidden at all.- Wikipedia   A Story about LOVE, LOSS, and LETTING GO.   I recommend this movie to people who could not accept the loss of their loved ones; to persons who cannot let go of the ones they love; to people who are unhealthily attached to people and things that remind them of those people; to people who need to move on, but can't; to EVERYONE. (source) It was a dream come true. LOL  Sam Milby was calling MY name.  He was shouting it while chasing...well, not me, but Bea Alonzo's character, Lara Cruz.  It was music to my ...

Baler (2008)

Image
Calling this a review would be a misnomer. This entry is more of what I felt when I was watching the film and afterward. Baler used to be a part of Quezon Province (of course it wasn't called  Quezon then, but the Province of Tayabas) where my dad of Armenian, Spanish, Japanese and Indian ancestry, hails from. Aurora now is another province. Nevertheless, because of its history and linkage of the people the two provinces were named after, it will forever be a "part" of Quezon. Having seen the posters last year, I became very interested in watching the film. I wondered why Anne Curtis was chosen as Feliza and Jericho was cast as Celso. Anne Curtis looked more mestiza than Jericho,  et cetera, et cetera . According to  film_angel , "The main purpose was to highlight the innate kindness and hospitality of the Baler folks. The filmmakers erred when they veered away from that objective." Even so, the movie achieved dramatic effect and Ro...

Concerto (2008)

Web Banner from http://concertothefilm.blogspot.com Wow! That's what I said after watching this film. Joselito, the central character and narrator played by Jay Aquitania , learned Japanese by heart. During the last leg of the Japanese occupation, he was able to use it to protect his family. I love studying different languages. I know I need to concentrate on one language to perfect it and so far, I only know bits and pieces of different languages. Communication is an important factor and that is not only true for one country. It's a fact throughout the world. Music is also one form of communication that needs no translation and besides food, the Dela Torre family used music to warm the hearts of "the enemy". Having had my "formative years" in the USA, I grew up thinking that Japan (and to think I have Japanese blood) was evil to the core in the 1940s. Well, it is true, they did all those war crimes that haunted and annihilated our ancestors, but li...
