Framed for a terrorist bombing, a foreign service officer (Milla Jovovich) must dodge a top assassin (Pierce Brosnan), while racing against time to thwart a deadly plot.-WWW Directed by  James McTeigue Written by Philip Shelby Milla Jovovich, Pierce Brosnan and Dylan McDermott enticed me to watch this film.  I never saw the trailer and I never read any review about this film, but somehow the three of them got me interested.   After our little snack at a famous coffee shop, mom and I thought we still had eight whole minutes to spare so we went to the powder room.  Unfortunately(or fortunately), we missed the first few minutes. Having no idea what the movie was all about, we just watched the movie.  It was exciting at first, but if I were Kate Abbott and was really keen about the most minuscule thing, then I would totally doubt the super obvious superior.  AFTER watching the movie, I read the reviews(click Philip Shelby 's na...

Stephen K. Ray's CROSSING THE TIBER (Book)-1997

Ecclesiastes 4:12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Not only a moving account of the conversion of its author and his entire family, but also an instructive document.  Evangelical Protestants may learn the art of rediscovering the historically established Church.  Catholics can discover the clear logic of their faith. - Fr. Stanley L Jaki Those who know me well know that I left the Catholic Church then went back again when I was much, much younger.  More or less I have been back to this fold I am in for a quarter of a century.  I am still a progressive Catholic until now, for one reason or another, but each day, I am learning to embrace my faith.  I don't know everything yet.  I still backslide sometimes and to be honest, right now, I am struggling.  Not with my belief in God, but with the people who are messing with my heart and my brain.  There's a thin lin...

MATA: Memoirs of a Master Mariner(2011)

#flashbackFriday #MataMemoirs Slides of the life and times of the master mariner plus Mr. Jojo Alejar interviewing Ben and Lib Mata Benjamin P. Mata's life is very colorful.  In the book he recounted everything he could remember from his childhood, his teenage years, how he met his future wife, Lib, how he married Lib and how they did not have pictures to remember the joyous occasion because they did not have a camera and how they survived all their trials and the triumphs that overpowered those trials. Of course, how he journeyed as the MASTER MARINER is the focus of this book.  I thought it would be taxing to read, but thank goodness, t his book is not boring at all.  It's a page turner and worth to be reread. I also enjoyed looking at the gallery.  While looking at the pictures I felt like he and his family welcomed me into their lives. It's as if I traveled with them and shared with their joys, pains and victories. The Cover Design and Boo...

How to Read a Person Like a Book(1973) Book Review

Image
#GeralINierenberg #HenryHCalero #HowToReadAPersonLikeABook The use of self-control is like the use of the brakes on a train.  It is useful when you find yourself going in the wrong direction, but merely harmful when the direction is right.- Bertrand Russel from MARRIAGE and MORALS We can never generalize because no matter what we do there are unique people here and there that have out of the box mentalities and traits.   This book could be a great help to somewhat understand the actions of certain people, but there is that iota of a chance that it could make you misconstrue certain actions too. When it is windy or breezy or the electric fan's speed is too fast/high, and a lady fixes her hair while you're around, it doesn't mean she is trying to flirt with you.  It simply means she's just fixing her hair, OK? I bought this book a long time ago and I must say that even if I would never generalize people's actions, I agree with Lord Chesterfield that ...

Just some observations about the local teleseryes and soaps featuring SECOND CHANCES and THE HALF SISTERS

Image
Disclaimer:  These are just my observations as an ordinary televiewer.  Nobody paid me to say these things.  I also updated this by removing some of the stuff I copy -pasted because they "sounded" weird. 😊 Random musings Thank goodness, our stories have evolved from being  baduy  to becoming world class.  A lot of our stories have been retold or dubbed and showed in other countries, appreciated by hundreds of thousands of viewers or millions even.  They shoot on location, and the actors even have seminars and workshops so that they would be able to portray their roles as real as real could be.  You could say that we  have gone a long, long way from being trapped in studio lots(hey, our studio lots are not like Universal Studios and the like), et cetera .   Whenever I have the time or whenever I need some "noise" while I research or write something, I watch and/or just listen to the dear old telly.   More often t...
