Note:  When you read the reviews I am including here, please read the comments(not all have comments) too.  They are very interesting.  As for me, I am disabling comments for this blog entry.  Oh, by the way, I read the reviews AFTER watching the film. THE WRAP : Swords, Sorcery and Stupidity Abound in Game Adaptation Timeout.com : An epic fantasy adventure with all the trimmings – but none of the personality Rock Paper Shotgun : The RPG Scrollbars: Warcraft  (I agree with this reviewer the most) The Hollywood Reporter : Warcraft film review Bangkok Post : Under the Curse THE WRAP : ‘Warcraft’ Reviews: It ‘Doesn’t Suck’ and 6 Other Much Worse Critical Reactions (This has tons of comments) (source) My nephew was quite sad when my dad said it was rated R-13, but if it weren't rated that way, I would have complained to the film ratings board or something, so I believe the rating is just right. There were many unnecessary s...

Money Monster (2016) R-13

Home run after home run after home run...NOT! We applauded(a few of us) when the movie was over and it wasn't because we were so bored, but on the contrary.  We were so engrossed with the film and we liked the film as a whole. My mother noticed a lot of flaws, but liked the story anyway. Dad and I agreed with her when she said that the "thing" that happened towards the end needed to happen.  The person that "thing" happened to saw it coming.  He already got what he wanted. What is that? Watch the film to find out.  If you want spoilers, there are links here somewhere.  ;-) There were many hostage taking stories that have been filmed already, but I have yet to check if this is the first one involving someone like Lee Gates(George Clooney).  I vaguely remember something similar, but maybe it was a figment of my imagination or I dreamed of it somehow. OK, everyone did great, but let me mention a few: Caitriona Balfe---not only a sigh...

When a person has fewer clients by choice, you would think he or she would have more time to blog about what he or she has watched or whatever else that is important in his or her life.  Unfortunately that is not how it is.  I have other concerns and most of them are not worth writing.  I did see some awesome movies, musicals, plays and concerts that left me awe struck, but the glory of the moment has dissipated already so I skipped writing my wonderful experiences while watching the aforementioned. Anyways, I need to give myself a push to write "here" again and since I'm on a hiatus with regards to writing personal online journals, I will just write about two of the movies I've seen recently at Director's Club Cinema of SM BF Parañaque.  I must say that there's still going to be some sort of personal touch, because after all, I am definitely not a critic, but just an observer.  I must also warn  you that this is not going to be an award winning piece, so...

Just the 3 of Us (R-13) 2016

Image
note: I was able to watch great movies before this one, but for one reason or another I wasn't able to blog about them. Director: Cathy Garcia-Molina An unlikely love story between polar opposites Uno(JOHN LLOYD CRUZ) and CJ(JENNYLYN MERCADO), two strangers, and how one night changes their lives forever. Unforeseen circumstances collide and force Uno and CJ to live under the same roof as they both deal with their sense of responsibility and their yearning for security. Uno is motivated by his sense of family while CJ is governed by an unconditional love that should put her first above everything else. The unlikely thing that binds Uno and CJ together paves the way for them to find in each other the kind of love they never thought they needed. ( source ) Just the 3 of Us is a feel good romantic comedy.  Heartstrings were pulled towards the middle of the film, but it was balanced with lots of laughs, love of family, great friends, etc. The very cute neighbour, H...
