tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-60113198265679820692024-03-14T00:32:48.991+08:00I am NOT a critic. I'm merely an observer. (Books, movies, plays, musicals etc.)These blog entries are MOSTLY just how I felt after watching the play, musical, concert or TV show, a product I like or things I have read. If I have not at least one good thing to say, then you wouldn't see anything written about it here. Oh, btw, I would seldom(not never) write about blockbusters even if I love them starting today(26 June 2019) just because. :-)nixca316http://www.blogger.com/profile/14683057723090919996noreply@blogger.comBlogger876125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6011319826567982069.post-48904198323852703352020-01-26T17:47:00.004+08:002020-06-03T09:38:22.960+08:00Kudos to the cast and crew of BEAUTIFUL JUSTICE (GMA 7 action drama series)<center><img height="360" src="https://contents.pep.ph/images2/images2/2020/01/15/beautiful-justice-finale-cherie-gil-1579086161.jpg" width="640" /></center><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Sigh. I have separation anxiety #sepanx with this series that I have grown to love. It had its off days, but MOST of the time, the scenes are exciting, putting me to the edge of my seat, giving me cheap thrills, or making me laugh. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">There are times when I get traumatized by a scene or two, that I have to play the piano first before doing my research or anything else...or for me to have happy thoughts before sleeping. That's how effective the script and execution are. Or else, why should it be so real to me when I know that it is only a work of fiction?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It's not really advisable for people who have PTSD to watch this, according to my friends who tried watching this, but couldn't because it was so convincing that they had to undergo <i>cleansing rituals</i> so-to-speak before becoming OK. If the very supposedly harmless <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocoon_(film)" target="_blank">COCOON</a> could do that to people with mental health issues, then I guess something like this that is so close to being very realistic could really affect those with PTSD. </span><span style="font-size: large;">There are some scenes that make me incredulous, but there are "small" screen limitations, I know, so they are real as real could be.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If you watch this from Monday to Friday or online, you would know that the series tries to balance stuff, and they don't forget to give God the glory. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The characters pray, and they don't make fun of prayer like the characters of a certain blockbuster movie that I watched with my folks. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The series was(is) well-acted, and superbly directed.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">One of my best friends sacrificed her date nights with her hubby so that she won't be able to miss an episode.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">My dad who seldom, almost never, watch Filipino teleseries, said that it's world class...that the Director, Mark A. Reyes V, is a high calibre director. The actors, though not as popular as the rival network's longtime series actors, are in a class of their own(is that even the right way to describe it?). They act well, but dad said Alice(YASMIEN KURDI)'s personality is a confused one. Sometime's she's full of wisdom, but sometime's she's a girl without breeding. Yes, she might not be rich, but she's most of the time refined, demure, bright, and all that, then suddenly she's <i>mapusok... </i>I guess the closest translation is agressive, but that's not how I would describe it...I think IMPULSIVE is the best way to describe it. Yes, it's close enough...or maybe that's the direct translation already. Thankfully, she's good person, and very lovable.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Brie(GABBI GARCIA) is awesome, and she could be one of Charlie's Angels one day, but there was a time my mom said the scriptwriters are mad at her. In my humble opinion, I think otherwise, because she became the central character(well, they try to be fair to all three, so maybe this isn't intentional)...she's the tallest...she has(had) two men who are(were) fighting over her...she has a Yaya who loves her dearly...she has a VERY RICH and loving father(JUAN RODRIGO)...she found real friends in Alice and Kitkat(BEA BINENE)...<i>yun nga lang </i>her Drug Lord of a mother(BING LOYZAGA) wanted her to follow in her footsteps. I honestly don't get that. Charmaine(Brie's mother) cried a lot and tried to leave the syndicate by handing the reins to Lance(DERRICK MONASTERIO) because she wanted to change for Brie, but when Pocholo(Juan Rodrigo's role...Brie's dad) died, she wanted Brie to get back with Lance so that they could rule together. I was really pissed at Charmaine(not Bing) because of that. Thank goodness she learned her lesson towards the end.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">VICTOR NERI and IAN DE LEON are really naturals. We were sad that RD(Neri as the Regional Director Tony Bautista) died before the series ended, because we wanted him to have a great life with Alice, but, at the very least, his life was not wasted. His death was a better <i>choice</i> than if the "<i>pakinabangan</i>" thing pushed through, right? </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If there's going to be a spinoff, CHERIE GIL should be one of the main characters, but if ever there would be a spinoff, I think somebody else would have to direct it because Mark A. Reyes V would be busy with the live action series of VOLTES V plus the spinoff of ENCANTADIA or its sequel with the Snow Queen like role of SOLENN HEUSAFF who is the evil twin of the Bathaluman called Cassiopeia, and the children of the Sang'gres. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;">Mother Queena, PHILLIP LAZARO, should be there too...with LILET as a ringer of Marilen or someone related(<i>baduy bang magrequest niyan?</i> I miss Lilet---but she had to die for Ninang to surface or something---<i>ay ewan---nangangarap lang ako ng gising</i>)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Kudos to the cast, crew, and EVERYBODY ELSE who were a part of this series.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Hindi ko na kayo iisa-isahin. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 to the nth power. ;-)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Another request by fans(I saw this on IG):</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">For <b>Bea and Gil</b> to have a series of their own, and I even agreed with one of the people who posted their requests that when she was so sad when Vin and Kitkat did not end up together that perhaps in the future they could have a series together. Other people noticed their chemistry, but we, the BrieVin/VinBrie fans were the happiest. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: large;">I also saw the chemistry, but if the series ended with Brie and Lance still together, then I would really think the writers weren't good to Gabbi Garcia. Besides, before the "mokong" thing happened, the writers made us feel the love between Vin and Brie. A lot of people were mad when Brie married Lance, and they pitied Agent Pogi to the max. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I wanted Kitkat to end with Agent Scott(KIEL RODRIGUEZ) Reyes. A lot of people noticed their chemistry too...but towards the end of the series, especially when RD, Aleli, and Scott were being tortured, I think it's but right that Scott ended up with the beautiful and graceful Aleli Flores(ERIN OCAMPO). He even wanted to die for her(something like that).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Well, I guess that's all I have to say for now. <b><u>Maybe</u></b> I would write more praises later. </span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I have to accompany my Big Sis somewhere in a few.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Thanks for your time. May God bless us all!</span></div>

Introduction that you may skip:<br /><div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Learning about this movie made me pretty excited to watch it. It had a different concept, and I was prepared to cry a lot. I was told that for me not to shed tears in a movie, I should really be armed with lots of tissues.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Dang. Even with all the preparations, I still cried. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">You see, my maternal grandmother was deaf, and she could only hear us with a hearing aid. Since I was little I was scared of being deaf, so I prepared for "it" with the hope by preparing I won't ever go deaf.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I served in the Deaf Ministry for a couple of years, but when my mom and I started fighting because of the things she misinterpreted, I told myself I should stop serving because it would make me look like a hypocrite, even if I am not.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I do miss them a lot, but I would rather serve in different ways.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Watching this with my partially deaf mother, and my dad, who is hard of hearing because of his medicine, made me feel what Mara was feeling all throughout the movie. </span></center>

<span style="white-space: pre;"> </span>and <b>Katherine "Kookai" S. Labayen</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">CARLO AQUINO's acting ability was noticed since he was a little boy, but we've only noticed MAINE MENDOZA during her Yaya Dub days, even if in real life, she's an heiress or something. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Little by little Maine has warmed our hearts, and I'm glad, as early as now, she broke free from her "love team" with Alden, not that I have anything against Alden, but at least now we know that she could act, no matter who her partner is(like Coco Martin, and dear Arjo Atayde).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">There were many light moments in this movie, but the topic is serious. I liked that it was fair to both the hearing and the deaf, and we were able to see Gali's perspective many times in the movie.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I just have one <i>problem</i> regarding the movie. If Gali is living alone for a very long time, how come it was only Mara who thought of the lights for his doorbell?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">At least that's what I've noticed. The people in Commercenter were kinder than the ones who watched in SM BF. It was a good thing my "Little Sister" was already a bit drowsy after watching the movie, or else she might've pulled the hair of the person who said this: "He could afford a Condo, but not a hearing aid?" Argh!!!!!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Generalize much????</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The movie's flow is smooth. I was immersed every second. I like Mara's boss, Sir TJ(BRIAN SY). He believes in Mara, no matter what.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">KAT GALANG, I think, is one of BLACK SHEEP's favourite actors. Well, she's very versatile, and she really should have more projects. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">LOTLOT and CRIS VILLANUEVA play Mara's parents, and they are, as always, very good.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">GELEEN EUGENIO is still a very good dancer, and VANGIE LABALAN has proven through the years that she could play almost any role.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">ARCI MUÑOZ and RAFA SIGUION REYNA play very special roles in this movie. You could hate them, but you would also be very impressed with them.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">NIKKI VALDEZ plays Mara's older sister. She has a deaf daughter whom Mara loves dearly. She's the reason why Mara wanted to learn to sign in the first place...and because of that, she was able to meet Gali. Well, they kind of met "before <i>that</i>", but I won't give spoilers.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">There are no small roles here, and everyone did their jobs well. I am not exaggerating.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I hope more people would get to see this masterpiece.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Kudos to everyone involved in this project, and dear readers, thanks for your time!</span></div>

<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">What can I say? I like this movie. If I didn't like it, then why would I watch it two </span><span style="font-size: x-large;">whole</span><span style="font-size: large;"> times? </span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">It had some hitches(not just one---hahaha---oh, only one was small), yes, and maybe I would've want some of the situations to be different, but those wrong decisions kind of made this movie exciting.</span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">I love the chemistry between SHANE MCRAE AND AUBREY DOLLAR. There were many, many stories with the kind of relationship they have, and even in real life, I know a lot of people's relationships transcend to a higher level, and have loved each other even beyond death.</span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Their kind of love is beautiful. It may have started as a sham, but I like how their love grew, and how the sham became real.</span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">There are many stories too that have started from a small stitch to knots, to weaves, to cardigans, to woven blankets, to tangled webs, to untangled webs, et cetera, et cetera.</span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">I like how Mr. Levenson thinks, and how he made an old premise seem like something new, by adding a lot of situations that could be funny, but also deep at the same time.</span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">I also like the style of directing of Mr. Burgess. </span></b></center>

<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></center>

<span style="font-size: large;">If the first two nights of #BeautifulJustice are indications of the success of this series, then I must say that this series is pretty interesting, indeed, and it may be a strong contender for the reigning TV series from the rival network.
</span><span style="font-size: x-large;"><a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2016/12/encantadia-fever-20052016.html" target="_blank">Encantadia</a></span><span style="font-size: large;"> ended while they were still ahead. <span style="font-size: large;">THE CURE didn't have the same "luck" as Encantadia, because perhaps the people thought of it as another "Walking Dead" or Zombie series, but in fact it wasn't because it's from a Monkey Virus Disease(MVD), but let's face it, people didn't know the difference, most especially because the series was shown after the hit, <a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2017/11/trip-ubusan-lolas-vs-zombies-graded.html" target="_blank">TRIP UBUSAN</a>.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">To those saying it's like "Charlie's Angels", well, I don't think so. Maybe more of Avenging Angels, but not. </span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I like the ensemble(<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6atjrEFvpg" target="_blank">Bea Binene, Bing Loyzaga, Carlos Agassi, Derrick Monasterio, Gabbi Garcia, Gabby Eigenmann, Gil Cuerva, Therese Malvar, Valeen Montenegro, Victor Neri, Yasmien Kurdi, Lilet, Ian De Leon, Dang Cruz, Kiel Rodriguez, Wil Devaughn, Phillip Lazaro, Shyr Valdez,Vincent Magbanua, and many more, especially the kid who plays Ron-ron</a>, Franchesco Maafi), and so far, it looks like another series that the whole world would enjoy.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I intereviewed a few of those who watched these two episodes. They all believe that it is safe to surmise that Lance(Derrick Monasterio's role) is still alive because only the watch that Brie(Gabbi Garcia) gave him "survived". Besides, he's one of the main characters.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">They also think that there are going to be lots of flashbacks involving those who weren't so "lucky". I hope so. Ronnie Vida is investigating something. Of course they should let us know what that is about. </span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The ones I interviewed don't want Victor Neri's role, Tony, to be the bad guy. It's too common already, they said. They think it's Lance plus maybe someone else from the Agency. They also want Vin to end up with Brie.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Well, I won't go on a guessing game...I will try my best to watch this on time, or at the very least watch updates from legal sources. </span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This surely would be worth every viewer's time.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">🛳💣🔥</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">All the best to the whole team!</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">

<center style="text-align: left;">

</tbody></table>
<span style="font-size: large;">This is a wonderful movie with a sad theme, but somehow it still brings the true spirit of Christmas. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The actors are great, especially CAMERON TEN NAPEL who played Lucy like she's a pro. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">She's not so active anymore as an actor, and probably because she's busy with school. She's about to turn twenty, and so I hope after she's graduated from the university she may find her way back to acting again. Her last project was when she was thirteen, as a child computer voice.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">🎄🎄🎄</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Even if it brings out the true spirit of Christmas the theme is not so Christmassy enough(because the central character is Grinch like or Scrooge like), but it does talk about the "100% true" Nativity Story plus a week later, Simeon's story of salvation. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It's nice to see ANTHONY TYLER QUINN here as the man who gave meaning to the central character's life. He is also the dad of Lucy, a young girl who had to grow up quickly after her mom died.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.achristmassnow.com/tag/muse-watson/" target="_blank">MUSE WATSON</a> plays Sam. A "stranger" who helps our central character when she gets mugged. I kind of guessed who he was, I just didn't think he was, well...no spoilers here.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I cried buckets of tears. There are many touching scenes.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Towards the end you would wonder where the "other people" in their lives are, but somehow most of you wouldn't mind that.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">My advice is that you don't watch it during Christmas. Watch it any day of the year, but not during a holiday or something. Well, it's up to you. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If you're a sucker for a future stepmom and future stepchild themes, then maybe this is for you.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Oh, before I forget, the central character, Kathleen, played by CATHERINE MARY STEWART, pulled some heartstrings too. She's a bitter person who wanted everyone, especially those good people who work for her, lose their Christmas spirit. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">"The food's great, but..."</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Anyways, that's it or else I might tell you the WHOLE story already. </span><br />

<br />
Elzar "Dodjie" Simon is not really a stranger to me. He was my brother's boss in ATI, and he was one of the many invited guests who was able to celebrate with us during my brother and sister-in-law's wedding in 1998. My brother only has praises for him.<br />
<br />
I was excited to meet him again last 14 July 2016, but it coincided with <a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2016/07/curtains-up-2016-starring-mig-ayesa-and.html" target="_blank">CURTAINS UP</a>, so I just joined my family in Spirit.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;">A.I. HACKED</span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The book has been receiving rave reviews ever since it was launched so when I saw on the author's FB page that he was having a book signing event at Fully Booked's The Studio at 11th Street, BGC, I was psyched. A few days after I learned about it my brother announced that we were going, and he has already ordered one paperback and one hardbound. I thought one was mine, but it turned out it was for my dad, but it's OK. My parents live with me, and my dad read books one-by-one, and now he is still reading my former Pastor(Richard Mirpuri)'s <b><a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2019/07/glimpses-of-grace.html" target="_blank">Glimpses of Grace</a></b>, so I got to read his book first.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">After reading it I said to myself I will definitely buy more copies to give as gifts. It is a page turner. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">While growing up we were practically brainwashed that Artificial Intelligence is dystopian in <i>nature</i>, but in reality it is practically a part of almost everything around us. </span><span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Fear was instilled in us from childhood. Robots taking dominion over us, and controlling us...making the human race extinct, and <i>all that jazz. </i></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Thankfully, a book like this one guides us that artificial intelligence was created to aid us, and not to enslave us. </span><span style="font-size: large;">This book prepares us on how we could make use of all this advancements in technology and the like. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The future is not set in stone. With a better mindset, the future need not be a bleak and bleary place. </span><br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">There are very few local dance films that I still cherish until this very day: HATAW NA! (1995), HOTSHOTS (1984), SWING IT...BABY(1978), BAYARANG PUSO(1996), 14 Going Steady(1984), and maybe I could include CAMPUS BEAT(1984).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">There are many movies that are musicals that involve a lot of dancing, and one of them that is an all-time favourite of mine is <a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2017/12/contra-mundumdefy-world-ang-larawan.html" target="_blank">ANG LARAWAN</a>, and another is <a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2016/06/cultural-center-of-philippines-presents.html" target="_blank">EMIR</a>, which I think is one of the best ever produced.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;">INDAK</span><span style="font-size: large;"> is the latest addition to my very short list. It's not perfect, but I like its style, approach, and treatment.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I like how the actors acted, and I love how hard they prepared for this movie mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally, <i>et cetera.</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I guess my only complaint is that the dance scenes of the competitors who were supposed to be finalists were so-so. They should have at least shown how difficult it was to beat these finalists.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The problems were...are real. Yes, the problems were very relatable. There were many outrageous scenes, but I'm not complaining about them. It's a dance musical after all.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I am glad that Nadine's gracefulness was highlighted in this movie, and I'm also glad that our very talented young dancers were able to show to the world their abilities in dancing and so much more.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Bantayan Island and its glory was featured here, along with some cultural awareness. Jen, Nadine's character's mom, played by YAYO AGUILA, is some kind of Babaylan or maybe she is a healer. Like many local healers, she is one who could not heal herself, and she could not heal matters involving the heart. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Even so, Yayo's role plays a very important part in Jen's life. She is her voice of reason, and inspiration.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Oh, by the way, BILLY CRAWFORD has a cameo, and I'm glad that even if his role is short, he did not give a half-baked performance.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">What else?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I also love the scenes in Seoul.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Need I say more?</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
From <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5574012" target="_blank">imdb</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Directed by Christie Will Wolf</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Written by Barbara Kymlicka</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
note: The Director's daughter, Amélie Will Wolf, has a cameo as the cute five-year-old Claire Benson. Blaine Anderson plays her dad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">After watching back-to-back The Cutting Edge series just recently(a few months ago) where I only loved the first(</span><span style="font-size: large;">starring DB Sweeney and Moira Kelly</span><span style="font-size: large;">), which, by the way, I watched SEVERAL times before, I thought I had enough of Ice Skating love stories(Figure Skater/Hockey Player) for the moment(I will never get tired of Ice Skating movies, and movies with horses). Gee, I was wrong. I found myself being drawn to this. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">My contemporaries, LOCHLYN MUNRO and LISA WHELCHEL are in this made for TV movie, so it kind of made me more interested, but NIALL MATTER and GRACYN SHINYEI also added icing to the already delicious cake.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">As for LEAH RENEE, well, I'm not so much of a fan, but I don't dislike her. She's a good actor, and I guess she pulled it off. I enjoyed her last movie, <a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2019/07/sailing-into-love-2019.html" target="_blank">SAILING INTO LOVE</a>, so I told myself, "Give this movie a chance."</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I would get off the "technical stuff" because that's not my expertise, but as someone who loves, at the very least, watch Figure Skating competitions, and Ice Skating movies, I could easily say that I wasn't quite impressed with Claire Benson's performances during The Nationals(different years), and I've seen other Hallmark TV movies with Ice Skaters, and this was just mediocre. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">So why was I drawn to this?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The story. I like the story. The almost has-been injured Figure Skater, and a retired Hockey Player(nothing beats the original Cutting Edge story, but...), rehabilitation...life beyond skating...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Yes, it's very formulaic, but there were lots of scenes that made me laugh...plus the scenes with Lochlyn and Lisa made me feel giddy inside.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I also liked that "fact" that they did not pretend to be in the US of A. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It has its plus and minuses(like the "cliffhanger" kiss), but all in all, I liked what I felt after watching this film.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Written and Directed by MICHAEL V</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">When plans for the day did not come to fruition, dad, mom, and I decided to watch a movie instead. We've seen most of the blockbusters, and the others were Horror Flicks(not really our cups of tea, with some exceptions, of course) so we were left with <i>no choice</i> but to watch FAMILY HISTORY.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Boy, were we surprised. The style and treatment were done before, but we were so impressed by the flow of the story, the acting, the injection of graphic arts, the cinematography, <i>et cetera</i>, most especially the direction. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The topics aren't new, and they are all very relatable, but how the characters dealt with the different situations proves that the writer/director/producer/composer, MICHAEL V, is a genius.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">DAWN ZULUETA, KAKAI BAUTISTA, MIGUEL TAN FELIX, BIANCA UMALI, PAOLO CONTIS, JOHN ESTRADA, EUGENE DOMINGO, DINGDONG DANTES, MIKOY MORALES, NIKKI CO, JEMWELL VENTINILLA, VINCE GAMAD, and NONIE BUENCAMINO, played very important roles, and they all did their jobs more than well.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">There were serious matters made light because of the humour, the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/GMAPictures/videos/393687727935165/" target="_blank">theme song</a>, the special effects, the thoughts/imaginations, and so much more, but they are still very thought-provoking.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Dad, who is very choosy about the local films he watches, surprisingly added this to the list of WORLD CLASS FILIPINO FILMS. I agree with him. Need I say more?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
From <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10136854" target="_blank">imdb</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This movie, besides being a love story, is about fighting for what we believe in, especially when we know we are in the right. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">For me this movie is very timely because of all the hullaballoo happening around me. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Sometimes I cringe when people congratulate me for what I "did", as if it's something great, but I did what I did, and I said what I said. I won't take back what I said.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">THE MOVIE</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">CHRIS MCNALLY(Lt. Cdr. Tom Hastings) and LEAH RENEE(Claire Richards) look visually beautiful together, but many people said they had a hard time listening to Ms. Renee because of her squeaky voice.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Acting wise, they both did great. If they are not a real life couple, they sure made me believe that they are in love, or at the very least, super attracted to each other.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I like that the viewers who usually complain about Hallmark's style of "cliff hanger kissing" won't do so.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I also like that even if there were conflicts and misunderstandings(or else it would be BORING), they did not linger on those scenes.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The two lead characters know they are two mature adults, ergo they did not act like they were in High School or anything like that, pretending not to like each other. They showed each other they care. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Yes, there's some predictability, but you would still be surprised with some scenes. Well, that's just my opinion.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Oh, I also like the supporting characters, most especially Claire's dad played by ANDREW AIRLIE, and Mick, played by MATT HAMILTON.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Well, I'll just keep this short.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It's enjoyable. Maybe it won't win awards of any sort, but it would surely make you feel good.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My 2 cents worth:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The theme isn't new, but one way or another, we could very much relate to what the people in this "free" movie(I guess donations are welcome) have undergone. All of us have loved, lost, tumbled, fell, sinned, and so much more.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Acting wise they all did more than well. The dialogue? It could have been better, but good enough to drive a point.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Was "Buck" necessary? Was he supposed to be an angel? Why was he wearing black and red?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Did I like the ending?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I think they could have been more creative, but it was OK. At least it's not like everything was solved in a flash. Things had to be processed first or something.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Well, I guess that's all I've got to say.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">With Tita Lillian Mirpuri, Pastor Dick's wife</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">My former Pastor, Richard "Dick" Mirpuri, wrote this wonderful book.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Life wasn't always a bed of roses, and if it was, there were lots of thorns in it. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: large;">For a first attempt in writing a book, and according to him, it could very well be his last, he was able to share his life's journey and the lessons he has learned along the way.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">There are many practical, touching, and spiritual lessons, and what's nice about it, is that even if it leads the reader to humility, it also makes the reader realise the bountiful graces of God.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">He tackled about money as a tool for the work of God. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I remember some of the teachings in the past that it's the LOVE for money that is the root of all evil, and not money in itself.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">He also talked about striving true riches, after all, where your heart is, there your heart will be.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">We must seek first the kingdom and His righteousness, and everything else will follow...will be added.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<i>After the Ball, a retail fairy tale set in the world of fashion. Kate's dream is to design for couturier houses. Although she is a bright new talent, Kate can't get a job. No one trusts the daughter of Lee Kassell, a retail guru who markets clothes "inspired" by the very designers Kate wants to work for. Who wants a spy among the sequins and stilettos? Reluctantly, Kate joins the family business where she must navigate around her duplicitous stepmother and two wicked stepsisters, but with help from a prince of a guy in the shoe department, a god-brotherly gay pal in the design office, her godmother's vintage clothes, and a shocking switch of identities, Kate exposes the evil trio, saves her father's company, and proves that everyone can wear a fabulous dress.</i> Written by -<a href="https://www.imdb.com/search/title?plot_author=-KO%20Fashions&view=simple&sort=alpha&ref_=tt_stry_pl" target="_blank">KO Fashions</a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This fairytale inspired Canadian Production is surprisingly endearing. I thought it was just one of those modernised fairytales that you would know <u><b>exactly</b></u> what would happen next.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The predictability is inevitable because it is a combination of Shakespearean plays and a whole lot of things including Cinderella, but it still offered something <u><b>not so</b></u> predictable scenes, even if in fact you have already guessed "it" along the way.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I like the chemistry between MARC-ANDRÉ GRONDIN(Daniel) and PORTIA DOUBLEDAY(Kate). To be honest, I didn't see it at first, but later on, I saw the spark between in, and whether it is real or not, it surely looked like it was.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I also like the "fairy" godmothers of Kate(Richard(CARLO ROTA) and Bella(MIMI KUZYK)). They are such a good team.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">LAUREN HOLLY(Elise), I guess, is being typecast as the character you would love to hate, but thankfully, she did not disappoint. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Another person who did not disappoint here is the thankfully alive dad played by CHRIS NOTH(Lee Kassell).</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The stepsisters(NATALIE KRILL and ANNA HOPKINS) and the evil conniver(COLIN MOCHRIE) did OK, but I really love Maurice(DAVID MICHAEL).</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It may not be the best story ever retold, but it is enjoyable nonetheless. </span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">All Alza Bennett(CHRISTINA KARIS) wants is to get home to her estranged family for the Easter holiday. An auto mishap en route leaves the high-strung executive more than 700 miles short of her destination and standing on the doorstep of a grizzled, reclusive farmer named Lincoln(JEFFERSON MOORE), whose goal in life is to be left alone. After a deal is struck, the mismatched pair sets out on a three-day odyssey of misadventures along the highways and byways of America where they encounter rat-infested motels, convenience store holdups, rural rabbit stalkers and a starstruck couple from the local trailer park. Best of all, they are forced to encounter each other as the two worlds of the princess and the hermit collide at each and every turn. </span><br />

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">My thoughts on the MOVIE with spoilers:</span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">They described this movie as a modern take of the Prodigal Son or the Prodigal Daughter. The Prodigal Son in the Bible got his inheritance even when his father was alive and kicking, gambled, lost all his money along with his dignity because pigs ate better than he did. When he realised that in his father's house their servants were treated more humanely, he decided to return to his father's house to work for him, but instead...well, I think you know that story. In case you don't, just click this: <a href="https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+15%3A11-32&version=NIV" target="_blank">The Parable of the Lost Son</a></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Alza described herself as the prodigal daughter, but I don't think so. She's a brat, yes, but she worked hard for everything she owns, and she had a lot of surplus money to dispose of on every whim.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">When she had car trouble as described above by Amazon, after a long walk she meets a loner named Lincoln. From the very start she becomes bossy towards this person who was just minding his own business, just because she offered him $1,000.00 plus gas, lodging expenses, food costs etc.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">In those three days they were together she didn't even consider her being blessed that that very virile looking man wasn't a sex maniac or anything.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">She often yelled at him, even got him into to trouble, and so much more.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I wanted to pull her hair many, many times. </span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Those three days were probably a precursor to hell for Lincoln, but he still was very patient, in his own little way.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I will spare you the other details so you could still have some "excitement" after all the spoilers I am sharing, so to cut the long story short, Lincoln's patience have run out at one point, so he got her bags out of the truck and left her there in a strange place.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">She decides to go to a diner, and she learned the hard way how blessed she was in Lincoln's presence when a drunkard put his hand between her legs.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Lincoln comes to the rescue, and from then on she showed her gratitude.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I won't give you the whole story, but I must say that I like it. It does have a Church scene with a Minister giving a homily, but I like the approach of the movie. It's not preachy, and it's not mushy, but, for me at least, it's quite a memorable one. It kind of reminds you that not everything is what it seems, and everybody has a story.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I was really annoyed at Alza in this story, and that only means that Ms. Karis did more than a fine job. Mr. Moore's story and direction's good too.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It's not the best Christian story ever told, but it works.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Thanks for your time. </span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Happy...well, it's not Easter, but...</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Blessings and cheers!</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;">The first time I've seen this almost seven years ago I was deeply impressed because even if the movie is a musical comedy, the flow of the story was...is almost seamless. The songs of course were very familiar, but I was careful not to sing in the theatre. I am still traumatised (I should be over this, I know, but not until I find out if the aggrieved party has forgiven me) because I thought I wasn't too audible I sang with someone doing a solo number. She felt more than slighted. In Filipino I could say <i>nabastos ko siya</i>. Google translates it to I made her upset, but it's more than being just upset. She was rudely interrupted, but she went on. She never spoke to me again after that, and that was 1985. Haist. If by chance she gets to read this, I really am so sorry. </span></div>

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">THE MOVIE</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">The music of the APO Hiking Society has been close to my heart since the 1970s because they are all beautifully written, and the melodies are so unforgettable.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Not every lyric is light. Of course, there were political influences that are still very relevant nowadays, and there are those that people who have broken hearts could relate to.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">Unlike the recent <a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2019/02/eto-na-musikal-napo-2019.html" target="_blank">Eto na! Musikal nAPO!</a> ,this focuses on two families and the people around them. Two young people in love where the young woman has a bun in the oven; the respective issues of their parents; the girl and her family are rich; the boy and his family are not exactly poor, but definitely not rich; the best guy friend in love with the guy; the friends of the mother of the guy; a retired AFP General who is the grandfather of the rich girl; the siblings of the rich girl and the middle class boy; and the friends of the boy's mom who are also her business partners, plus some kibitzers and military men.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">The two families are about to merge, and many cans of worms were opened.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="background-color: white;">The audience oohed and aahed most especially during OGIE(Pol) and EUGENE(Rose)'s love scene. They made it in a funny way, but if you have seen the film you would know that love scene is very important because of certain things that happened before.</span></span></div>

He was our local Troy Bolton of High School Musical, so this role was, for lack of a better term, peanuts for him. He played the young Nursing Graduate convincingly. He also looked very much in love with Tracy, and he also looked conflicted with his decisions.)</b></li>

Her role here is quite serious, maybe except for the "love scene" with Ogie, and she did everything well. Even if she's not a professional singer, she pulled it off. Eugene is very intelligent and wise, and she is a true thespian. She made us feel every emotion she was feeling, and I must say she never disappoints...she doesn't serve anything half-baked. She is truly awesome.)</b></li>

Ogie has many talents, and he excels in all of them, but an acting award was long overdue, so thankfully, as Kuya Wes he was noticed. Here, he also gave it his all. In real life he is a prolific composer and his songs sell like hotcakes. Here, he convinced us as a person who has lost his inspiration...rather, his inspiration is in deep slumber. <b><span style="font-size: large;">Wow. So far, so good. This is my favourite among all The Wedding March instalments. There's just something so real between CINDY BUSBY and TYLER HYNES. LANE EDWARDS and SUNITA PRASAD also have something beautiful between them. Nothing between the two couples look forced. </span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">The wedding itself was beautiful. Is that a spoiler? No. Not really. We know that the wedding would happen. What we do not know are the things in between, and I'm glad they pulled it off.</span></b></div>

<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">The Inn still looks glorious as ever, and it was great reminiscing about my Wedding Planning days with with a couple of friends, and some I did with a group of people. I also did some hosting...</span></b></div>

<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Going back to the movie, even if it's quite predictable, I loved the flow of the story, and to reiterate for emphasis, I really felt the love between Brad(that name again) and Annalisse because of the very believable acting of Mr. Hynes and Ms. Busby.</span></b><br />

<b><span style="font-size: large;">What about Jack and Josie? Have they lost their magic? Of course not, but...well, let's not go there.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">My guess is that there will be two to three more episodes before they end this mini series, and I surely hope that they would save the best for last.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Hmm...</span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">I guess that's all I have to say.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Thanks a bunch for your time.</span></b></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This movie was literally SHELVED for the longest time, until today. I just didn't have the energy to watch something so SHALLOW, so I thought.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This movie is not shallow at all. Yes, it was very OBVIOUS that the younger sister played by ANNA CHLUMSKY would eventually grow up, and that neighbour of her Big Sister, Mandy(CHELAH HORSDAL), as played by WARREN CHRISTIE, would be her future beau because her dunce of a boyfriend(JESSE HUTCH) did not deserve her attention. Still there were surprises here and there.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The problems of the kids are nothing new, and so were the solutions, but I like how this movie was acted by the ensemble.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">As for Mandy and her loving husband, Brian(WILLIAM DEVRY), they had some romance to be rekindled, so it could be said that they had to do something about that too.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Predictable? Yes, indeed, but it was very enjoyable, and very relatable.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Ergo, it wasn't a waste of my time, and I could only speak for myself.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Still, I am very grateful that you took some time to read this.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">May you all have a happy Sunday!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Even in 1995 the story wasn't anything new. I know some people in real life that met "this way", and it's somewhat predictable.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">What makes this movie great then? The actors, and the treatment, and the awesome ending.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I have seen this in the 1990s, but I must say that I appreciated this more tonight.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">SOPHIA TURNER (Baby Sarah) is at least 23 years old now, but she'll always be remembered as the adorable toddler who brightened everyone's day.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">RICHARD E. GRANT plays Jack so effectively that I was crying with him, getting drunk with him, feeling elated with him, et cetera. When he realised how important Baby Sarah is to him, I felt...feel the love he has for her. Even if he's unrelated to the guy who kinda looks like him, and shares the same last name, he, at the very least, has the same acting ability...some debate/argue/discuss about who is better than the other, but let's not go there. </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Mr. Grant and Miss Sullivan have a great supporting team including Dame JUDI DENCH, Mr. IAN MCKELLEN, EILEEN ATKINS, CHERIE LUNGHI, IMOGEN STUBBS, LAURENT GRÉVILL, TRACY THORNE, and SAMANTHA MATHIS.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Every actor is important, including the cute babies(the twins who played the four-month-old baby Sarah).</span></div>

<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Yes, like many of you, I still love the animated version much, much, much better than the live action one, but there are good points:</span></center>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">NAOMI SCOTT's rendition of Speechless in this movie rendered me speechless in a positive way. It was a stupendous performance, and the lyrics are thought-provoking.</span></center>

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The lyrics are etched in my heart and brain. Maybe I haven't memorised the song yet, but it definitely has made a lasting impression.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>THE MOVIE</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">People were wondering why I haven't seen this movie yet. They said it's very empowering, especially for women like me.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Well, we had a lot of things going on, and when we had the chance to watch a movie again, we chose to watch <a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2019/05/please-watch-quezons-game-2018-now.html" target="_blank">QUEZON'S GAME</a>, because it is not only empowering for women, but it's something the whole world "has to know", most especially our countryfolk.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Finally, the day arrived, and as we were watching this, we were really impressed with the acting and agility of MENA MASSOUD as Aladdin. He's so graceful, and very believable as the "street rat". </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Everything about this film is beautiful. The set...the cast...the reimagining of the story...the direction...the music...everything.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The thing that bothered me was the rating. They rated this G, for General viewership/patronage, but like <b><a href="https://nixca316moviefan.blogspot.com/2014/05/maleficent-2014.html" target="_blank">Maleficent</a></b>, this should be at least Rated PG. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Well, the little kids won't go without their parents anyways, so I guess it's OK. So parents and guardians, just do your thing, OK? </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Maybe the good thing about the G rating is that as young as they are they would learn a thing or two, especially about women empowerment. </span><br />

<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">One of my friends who watched this cried when Mena and Naomi were having a magic carpet ride as Prince Ali and Princess Jasmine respectively. So I waited for it. It's very impressive, but I still prefer the video above because it was performed live at <b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyJI8kr0Qo8" target="_blank">The Oscars</a></b>(1993). Ergo, it's way, way more MAGICAL than the one in the movie.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The thing that impressed me with the live action movie is that in this day and age, anybody could be recognised worldwide, and not just...</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I knew that Disney version by heart, so everything's predictable, but I was still very excited, and I felt every emotion, even Jafar's(MANWAR KENZARI). Other people were not happy with him, but I kinda liked that he had a likeable face, but still could act well. That's MY opinion, so even if you don't agree... ;-)</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Kudos to everyone involved in this movie.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks, Sexy Chef Barni, for the list of cinemas where QUEZON's GAME are shown</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Let me start in reverse. Before the interviewed Jews spoke, everyone in the theatre applauded. The story was researched well, the movie was well-directed, and it is well-acted. Greatly acted even.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It was as if we were there, experiencing everything with them. It was as if CCTvs were invented already and we were watching their every move.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">People were wondering why RAYMOND BAGATSING was chosen to play the late President because of his lineage/ancestry, but when you watch the film, you would see why. There are moments in the movie where he really looked like the very handsome President Quezon, and the ones who were able to hear him speak(or just check the files of his speech that rocked the nation) said he got the accent right. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Ms. RACHEL ALEJANDRO gave an outstanding performance as Mrs. Aurora Quezon. She spoke like her...she acted like her...she was her. She is her. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I know not everyone would be happy with a lot of things divulged in this film, but there is proof that it really happened. A lot of Jews are very grateful, and saving them did not mean he loved his country any less.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Listen to the dialogue between President Quezon and Vice President Sergio Osmeña(AUDIE GEMORA). <b>I am sure that dialogue changed the "future" President's perspective</b>, and I believe it was etched in his heart, until his last breath. <b>That dialogue proved/proves that dear President Manuel Luis Quezon loved our country, and he is a wise and brave soul.</b> He also became a precursor or a forerunner of people who cared for the Jews...human being baked in ovens like how the wicked witch wanted to bake Hansel, minus the eating part, of course.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">You will also be impressed with KATE ALEJANDRINO. It's not the first time I've <i>encountered</i> this young lady, but so far, this is one of her best performances ever.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Oh, by the way, if I was impressed with President Dwight David Eisenhower before, I love him now...not in a romantic kind of way. He was played well by DAVID BIANCO. My favourite parts were when he was talking to an ageing General Douglas McArthur(MIGUEL FAUSTMANN), and when he and his wife, Mamie(played by Bianco's real wife, JENNIFER BLAIR-BIANCO, a Filipino-American actor and model), were talking about duties, <i>et cetera</i>.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">This movie raked a lot of awards abroad, including a Best Supporting award for BILLY RAY GALLION as Alex Frieder. When I saw the movie, I understood why.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">You also can't discount the acting of JAMES PAOLELI as High Commissioner Paul Vories McNutt. I felt every emotion.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I could do a roll call here, because everyone really gave lasting impressions, but I'll just give a general opinion,: <b><u>All</u> the supporting actors did well.</b> Yes, indeed. This is really a great team effort from everyone. From the script to the finish product to the marketing, <i>et cetera, et cetera</i>.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Let's support movies like this one. Yes, there are a few things done for cinematic purposes, but about 95% of the movie is from ACTUAL events.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Let's have a clamour for this movie.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Hope they show this one in schools so students may write reaction papers, and discuss it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I am sure not only Quezonians would be proud of this movie, but Filipinos all over the world would be. Maybe there'll be some who would shake their heads, but that's life. We can't please everyone.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

P.S.</center>
<center>
</center>
<center>
I wondered why people were trying to stop the showing of this movie. I think one of the reasons is that it's because of what the researchers of the video above "discovered", but thankfully it was <u>kind of</u> balanced, if there's such a thing, by what Senator Edgardo J. Angara's thoughts and narrative. #GalitKayQuezon #TinawagSiQuezonNaDobleKara</center>

</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I still say watch this movie. I still believe it's well-researched, and it shows that most of the things about him were just misinterpreted. He loves his country. He really valued our independence, and he helped more than a thousand people when everyone else were deliberately making themselves seem blind as a bat. He is a true hero.</span></center>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">BETWEEN MAYBES is a pleasant surprise. Who would've thought GERALD ANDERSON and JULIA BARRETTO would have believable moments together, and have great chemistry? Both are gorgeous, and both of them can really act, so why didn't we ever imagine that they could have a movie together where they play each other's love interest? The age difference? Maybe, but I think that's not it. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Instead of overthinking or overanalysing this, let's just be grateful that "they" thought of pairing these two wonderful thespians. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">As we were going out the theatre, a fellow moviegoer said the movie is so nice. He also said the proof is the fact that he left the theatre smiling from ear to ear.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It is a very beautiful movie, to say the least. Although the story is far from <b>Roman Holiday</b>, it did remind me a lot about the said movie, and it was like Audrey Hepburn's spirit melded with Julia Barretto's aura. </span><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We enjoyed going around Saga through the eyes of their characters, Louie and Hazel.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;"><b>Saga is the capital city of Saga Prefecture, located on the island of Kyushu, Japan. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Louie and Hazel are poles apart, but somehow they met halfway.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">You can say that Hazel is so lucky...blessed...that of all people there in Japan she was able to meet Louie, a rare and old soul. Some say it's unreal, and it could only happen in <i>fairytales</i>, but I beg to differ. Once in a blue moon it does happen to REAL people. I dare not elaborate.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Besides, it's easy to fall for someone like Louie, and it is understandable if someone like Hazel could give up everything for someone like him. Besides having a heart of gold, he is good looking to boot.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Now the question is: Would she give up everything for someone like him?</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">All I can say is, the movie does not disappoint. Like that other moviegoer, I left the theatre smiling from ear to ear.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It may seem formulaic...well, it is, but it does offer something unique, and it's such a joy watching these two beautiful people on the big screen. Both of them have substance, and both of them know how to internalise well.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I felt every emotion these two characters were feeling. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">KUDOS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THIS MOVIE!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">By the way, the lady who played Sadako San was also very convincing. YAYO AGUILA and CHRISTIAN VASQUEZ had very intense scenes with Julia too...RYLE SANTIAGO has a cameo, and he did good.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I am guessing that a lot of people from the country would flock to Saga after watching this movie. I have been to Japan, but I have never been to Saga, and...</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Well, I guess I better end this now.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">What else?</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In the middle of watching this movie I wondered if this was a true story. Well, it is, but not about one person, but a thousand, according to the World Wide Web.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">There are Michael and Cory Brands out there who are baseball players, but this is not really about them.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This is a Christian movie, but it is very secular as well. The struggles of the characters are very real. They have support groups, and even if Jesus is at the center of it all, the movie shows and reminds us that change does not come overnight, and nothing great could happen if we hold back. When I searched who said it, "Google" points to SCOTT ELROD, the handsome actor who plays Cory Brand.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I like the approach and treatment of this movie. It talks about Jesus, but it doesn't shove into your face His teachings or whatever.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">All of us are broken, and we have things in the past we are ashamed of, but just in different degrees.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In this movie Cory judged someone...a Sunday school teacher...and he accused her of not knowing what he is going through because she's sheltered. Oh boy. He got the shock of his life when...</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">No. I won't tell you. Even if this is six years old, some of you might still want to see this, and you wouldn't want spoilers, so I'll spare you the "details".</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">All I can say is that everyone in this movie did a good job.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Believe it or not there is something magical about the pairing of these two. I could only speak for myself, but I got those cheap thrills...<i>kilig</i> moments...whenever the two of our lead stars are together.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I've seen KAKAI BAUTISTA in person. She is very voluptuous and her voice resonates to the highest heavens. They even call her THE DENTAL DIVA in reference to her big teeth, but she has her own charm and awesomeness.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">AHRON VILLENA, according to something I read, and Kakai, were going steady before, and here are a couple of videos that prove it:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<br />
<center>
<iframe allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/b6kdbB7qdXA" width="560"></iframe></center>

<center>
(<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMuIpMDNU7M" target="_blank">source</a>)</center>
<center>
</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I truly believe that once upon a time these two were really in love. Why is it so impossible for you to believe? </span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://nixca316.blogspot.com/1997/03/the-underdog-work-of-fiction.html" target="_blank">The Underdog</a>(the short story version) is far from the story of Harry and Patty, but people questioned Craig's choice. </span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<center style="text-align: left;">
<b>The Lord prefers common-looking people. That is the reason he makes so many of them</b>. Abraham Lincoln (some say it wasn't Honest Abe who said this, but Mary Todd Lincoln)</center>
</blockquote>
<span style="font-size: large;">Kakai is beautiful in her own way. Maybe not in the world's standards, but she is indeed beautiful. Who are we to say that she isn't?</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I admire Ahron for admitting to the world that he still cares for her, and he wants the best for her. I also admire him for not denying to the public that they did have a past.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">It's just so <i>funny</i> that most of the people who laugh at Kakai's looks don't look at the mirror...or maybe they are just laughing because of their own insecurities.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">For me, even physically, she is beautiful. That's how I see her, and beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, and for me, just to reiterate, she is beautiful.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Patty is so insecure because her baby brother never lets her forget that she is homely, so when Harry came along she couldn't believe that someone like him could love someone like her. She thought she was being punked or something.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">There are many couples who do not match physically, but their hearts and minds are one.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I am also guilty by saying this when someone who loved me married someone whom I thought of as homely...as if I'm the most beautiful person in the world..."What?! She chose her over me?!?"</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I am definitely not the most beautiful person in the world. I know that. Someone who is so gorgeous actually said that of me when someone chose me over her.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">One time, in our very own Parish, after I sang the Psalm so softly one Maundy Thursday, when guys encircled me, making me feel good, some women said, "What in the world do they see in her? She's not that beautiful."</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Well, the consolation is the fact that they said "not that"...</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Beauty is only skin deep. People should have substance. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Patty is a good person. She's loving, caring, all that. There are many reasons why a guy like Harry could love her.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">BTW, the script is great too, and this movie was directed well too.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The supporting cast? Superb!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It has funny moments, but it has thought-provoking moments too.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The long and short of it, it's a very enjoyable movie.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Others were so surprised to like it. I wasn't surprised, and I actually love it.</span><br />

<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Where was I when this was first shown? This is a movie I could watch again and again and again. I just have one major complaint. Why did GREGORY HARRISON only appear towards the last third of the movie? Why? Mr. Harrison is like fine wine. He has improved with age...gracefully.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Sigh.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">WENDIE MALLICK was already past 62 years old when this was shown, and she was still hot, hot, hot. </span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The story was based from a best selling author's novel of the same title, and the script was written with great dialogue and action.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It is outrageously funny, but it also drives a point. </span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The two main characters are naturals, and the supporting cast? I think they were meant to be silly...maybe to add some laughter or whatever.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The scenes were indeed quite silly, but I think they were meant to be really written that way.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><a name='more'></a><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I am not trying to brag or anything, but I kind of guessed who the real murderer is right from the start. I shelved the idea, and tried to guess if another person did it, but when the truth was out, I was relieved to find out I was right.</span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The Hallmark movie is very entertaining, and like what I said earlier, I really would not mind watching this again, and again, and again.</span></center>

Directed by <b>Christoph Lauenstein</b> and <b>Wolfgang Lauenstein</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">This story may be in animation, and is so outrageous, but it is definitely enjoyable. It's a German film about a young boy in middle school who has been neglected by his father because of his obsession about aliens. Everything seemed normal when his mom was still alive, but when she crossed over, poor Luis, he had to fend for himself, while still defending his dad.</span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>The script was written in an intelligent manner, but little kids would still get it with the guidance of their parents.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Some are complaining about the Parental Guidance rating, but I think the ratings board is correct in giving that rating. There are scenes there that have sexual overtones, and they are not subliminal, like that of The Lion King's messages in the sky, so to speak.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Even with the overtones it could still be enjoyed by the whole family because it is still wholesome enough. If parents were able to guide their kids while watching AVENGERS:ENDGAME, then I'm sure explaining stuff about this movie should be a piece of cake.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>I love the sense of humour, the dialogue, the situations, </b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>the voice actors, the animation, and everything else about this movie.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>I thought it was just another "cartoon" with the same old story, but I'm glad that I'm wrong.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Need I say more?</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>Thanks for your time. :-)</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>

<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span>
